Working at a theater was probably one of the better jobs I've had. Not sure if that says more about how bad most jobs are, but overall I had a pretty good time. Aside from the weekends when things were busy, it was mostly just hanging around, sweeping popcorn, and getting to watch movies for free. That said; this video definitely captures how it felt at its worst moments.

People, listen to me. When you go to the cinema treat the staff politely. When you eat your popcorn and drink your coca-cola do not leave a mess in your seat and throw the garbage in the garbage bin. The #1 things that annoy me the most about these low-paying jobs is the AMOUNT of customers we have to deal with everyday, there's nothing worse than having to prepare so many orders for hours in a row, plus the crazy scheduling times, too many graveyard shifts and 11-13 hours off between them isn't enough for rest

What makes it worse too is when cinema employees being part of motion pictures is not entitled to recieve overtime. That's why they can schedule you for 12 hour days if they so wanted. The other big thing is you have to work holidays while your friends and family get to enjoy the movies.

What did you expect when you signed up? All of these 'wage slave complaining' type of videos seem like bitching about just doing your job. A lot of customers is a good thing, because it means your company is making money, which is good for you. A lot of hours, long shifts is also a good thing because again this is more money for you. Business is slow, job cuts my hours/lays me off: Waaaa my boss is evil! Business is good, I have to work hard and a lot of hours: Waaaa my boss is evil! You can't have it both ways.

I'm speaking as a teacher in a vocational school. If you dislike children (or people) in general, stay away from teaching lmao. You will have to accept that you are basically a "babysitter" because most parents don't know how to fking take care of their own kids. 🥲 Speaking of babysitting, be ready to be thrown under the bus as well from both parents and the admin staff because you are supposed to be entirely responsible for their learning while they (the kids) sit in the classroom with their thumb up their arses. It's worse now with the negative effect of TikTok / KZbin short. Attention span is shortening at an alarming rate including adult learners so good luck trying to motivate them. 😅

I can relate to this video because I used to work as an Usher for a movie theater in Oakland California from 1995 to 1907 and I personally dealt with these type of customers. This is why now, at 48 years old, when I go to the movies, I tend to be more understanding towards the staff. I know what they are going through. So please be kind to them. I work at an AMC and this is so accurate. Popcorn is always littered everywhere and people constantly leave straws at the butter station. Giving tickets you will say "You will be in auditorium 6", the guest will say "Thanks" then come back 30 seconds later asking what auditorium it was again. I have to explain to them that its on the ticket and it tell them what auditorium to go to. We have giant signs that say either 1-6 and 7-12, for each hallway of the building and which auditoriums are on each side, and people still ask about it. Dealing with the coca-cola freestyle machines is the worse and the slushie machines are always leaking. Also, 95% of my management team just sits in the office and watches TikTok all day long except for 1 of my managers who is the saving grace of my shifts. Theater hopping kids are always the worst, but yet since my management team hardly does anything, it's kind of hard for us to kick anyone out. Constantly there are complaints about the auditoriums being too loud, to quiet, or the lights not turning off by a certain point. The movie theater is definitely an annoying place to work but honestly I'll take it over my old job at a farm store.
@danielcervini2545
@danielcervini2545 8 ай бұрын
Well to be fair, the net result of the giant sign that says 1-6 is negative 5, and the net result of the giant sign that says 7-12 is also negative 5, and when you add those results together you get negative 10, so I could really see how someone could not fathom auditorium 6 even existing in a theater that is already 10 auditoriums short.

And as an award-winning guy who's busted his arse for 40+ years (mostly in production), I'd like to state that LUCK is the primary factor which determines success. EVERYONE works hard. We'll ignore the stragglers who don't, because they ain't goin' anywhere. But hard work alone guarantees absolutely nothing. Trust me, I know. Fortune, connections, coin, clout, crews, computer code, control, communities, and opportunities (MORE luck) all factor in. If you lack those, you ain't goin' anywhere.

I worked part time at a movie theatre for one year and a half when I was 23/24 and it was actually pretty enjoyable. The colleagues were fun and I didn't mind talking about movies with the customers. Even cleaning up the rooms with the background music of the movie credit scenes was ok, I managed to find money that people would forget in their seats. I guess working full time + several years or being older would be very tiresome. But I always look back at that job with good memories.

We’re all a small part of a big fleeting world of flashing screens of entertainment and temporary joys. But at least as a cinema employee, you get to enjoy some free popcorn and watch movies for free. A silver lining in a sea of existential dread, I guess…

@agentsnorlson7913 the sandwich was already in the cart to begin with the lady decided not to say that I dont want the sandwich and it be better to just make a complaint to the supervisor normally anyone can simply make a last second choice and say "I don't want this can you return this for me"

As a teenager I worked at a locally owned cinema. It was an awesome job. While the films were on, there would be virtually nothing to do. We would just go out back and get stoned. Eventually I got promoted to projectionist and it was so cool because we had film projectors still. It was a lot of fun to thread up the machine and the sound of the projectors was very satisfying. The only thing that sucked about it being film was that sometimes the mechanism that feeds the film would malfunction and the film would pile up and eventually jam. It would be an absolute mess trying to splice it back together. I'd say the worst part is that people puked pretty often and people would leave their dip spit cups laying around. A few occasions, people even left piss filled popcorn buckets.

We went to go see saw x and they gave us a refund because our projector kept glitching. The funny thing is we weren’t being rude. We just wanted to let them know it wasn’t working and they just offered us a refund

My first ever job was working at a movie theater for three years. It was a lot worse than what was shown in this video. After working at the theater, I really saw the worst and stupidity in humanity I had this one time as a movie was getting out and this woman and her kid accused me and another person of stealing their wallet when we literally just came to clean and as they left, we found their wallet, literally tucked in between the seat cushions they couldn’t bother looking for two seconds.
