Hope to see more videos like this! Having trouble narrowing down my desired branches.

More to come! Branching can be a difficult process for sure and that’s why I wanted to start this series.

An officer's perspective and an enlisted Infantry soldier's is totally different..... #1 job of an Infantry officer... is to take care of your guys...., not your career, that's secondary. Give your or the commanders intent to your NCOs and we'll get it done.

I'm going Infantry Bradso out of VMI this spring. This video made me feel great about my choice and I'm super excited to get out there :)

People fit in all branches of the army. Different personalities, obviously different skill sets and personal interests. But when you break it down, the entire Department of Defense exists to support the Infantry. The branch that enforces national policy in the final 300 meters. Well spoken by the way. Good insights and understanding of various positions of responsibility. Understanding who you are leading is way more important than many realize. Bravo. It is odd in a small way, that the PSG had a couple of deployments under his belt as if that wasn’t the norm. Then I remembered time passes. We once deployed 7 weeks after returning from a deployment. But I’m not bragging, this is the time when you young officers work on you and your craft. Make the absolute most of it. Work life balance is just fine. Whoever is selling work life integration is just trying to get a medal for rephrasing what everyone already understands. Think about it. Do you want a balance or to integrate your work and your home life. Ask your “mentor” or look it up in the dictionary. Dumb. Sorry. I would on the surface of that comment run away from that mentor unless you actually want to integrate your work with your life. Perhaps you do. I found peace at home where I didn’t burden my wife with my job. She participated in some aspects of our social events, but she was never integrated in my career. That sounds horrible and I will bet a million dollars you both know wives integrated in their husband’s careers. Toxic. Just one example, but think about the words you are using and if they mean what you intend, carry on. I can’t see how that turn of phrase can become a positive. Let me know if I am wrong. Thanks though to both of you for your service. - retired infantry officer

Awesome interview guys! This helped me with a tough decision between infantry or logistics officer.

@@Therealc_hill I'm talking to the recruiter tomorrow to switch from logistics to infantry. I have a business degree and some accounting experience but want to try something different. Im sure both paths would be great for me though.

@@Therealc_hill infantry has a commitment of 9 years vs 6 for logistics here in Canada. Gonna be mulling this one over for a bit! Still have time to change my mind

I want to go rotc so I can get in better shape to hopefully have the opportunity’s of ranger school or airborne before just enlisting and to get better pay, but I also want to do the “cool” stuff and more hands on stuff. Is it really all desk work or do you still get to do the “cool” stuff. My ultimate goal would be a ranger
@andrewthilges6 ай бұрын
Gotta do Aviation! Most of the stuff out there about it is mostly in the realm of being Flight Warrants!

In almost every case, military officers are bureaucrats in uniform - nothing more. I know - I was one (after being prior enlisted.) It's a job full of endless meetings where people try to sound important, endless nonsense PowerPoint presentations, staff briefings, TOE reports, etc, etc.. Utter nonsense.

The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have been over with on a large scale for quite some time. Most people who have been in less than 10 years now most likely won't have a combat patch. They can't help that.
