Really enjoyed the video. I was in Kauai in 2016 for 8 wonderful days. What you are doing is precious. I certainly went down memory lane. Planning on coming back in 2024 with God’s Will.

The sand on Hanalei beaches is so soft to walk on, really nice.

This was so cool because you showed the VRBO that we stayed at on Kauai in 2019. It was the white building on the corner of the street when you turned down to visit that last little beach. We were in the bottom and had a little lanai under the carport. Every morning we came out and had our tea and watched the chickens. They weren't going to rent it out much longer because a family member was going to move into the space. Then they would have 3 or 4 generations living in the house which is not unusual in Hawaii where local families tend to try to hang on to their homes as generations move in and out. I'm sure that would never be able to afford a place like that so close to the beach if they were to try to buy it today. Sweet memories.

I haven't been here since 2013, I spent a lot of time on Kauai between 2001 and 2008. It looks like somethings have changed around the pier since the big flooding episodes of the last 8 years. I love this island, it is so beautiful.

Our old family beach house from the 50's was there somewhere (toward middle of the bay), spent many summer vacations there. Grew up on Oahu, grad high school on Big Island and UH Manoa. 4th generation island family going back to Great Grandparents but moved away late 70's for better opportunities. Hawai'i will always be home!

I lived in Princeville 20 years ago when you could still rent a studio condo for $1K a month. I loved Hanalei so much I named my Japanese daughter Hanalei.

i visited kauai for my honeymoon in 2018, prob my most favorite place on earth, the nature, the cleanness everything i love. saw a beautiful sunset on the pier, loved walking around hanalei. we walked the street going towards the peir and i remember seeing a small little blue house with a balcony and the lady was setting a dinner table on the balcony. that right there just made me love the lifestyle.

Great video Kendall. You brought back many good memories of Hanalei Town. We miss the super-good food and the great people of that village. They're so friendly and helpful in the smaller towns.

My favorite Hawaiian Island! I stood on that pier for family photos 14 years ago..just stunning with sunshine and mountain peaks beyond and waterfalls cascading!

What happened to the houses from the downpour that destroyed the park?I see they have been removed . Can they not rebuild ? Right next to the pier ?
@kendallweaver3 жыл бұрын
I don't know why they didn't rebuild.. but the rains and flooding that year really changed some things!

Hey Kendall. I'm one of those folks who only sees Hanalei Bay from the photos and paintings. Thanks for the real world view and tour!

How is the air quality there? And also, do most places have central air conditioning?
@kendallweaver3 жыл бұрын
Air quality is great.. as for AC, it's hit or miss. You'd have to ask about AC wherever you plan to stay while here. I'd say most of the rentals have AC, but not all. And as far as I'm concerned, it's a must, at least most of the year, since even though it's not too hot, it's very very humid! Mahalo!

Hi, Kendall. Great video....do you know what happened to the houses near the pier that were destroyed during the storm a few years ago?
@kendallweaver3 жыл бұрын
Not sure if all the homes made it through, or if some were torn down.

Great video series! The travel videos are ok, but as someone who's hopefully moving to the Island for a career, and a return to small town island life these are outstanding.

thx for filming and posting...the only way to get my fix these days. The beach parking I can see is no longer like it was for many years and I can see the new white picket fencing along the parking road too. What a change after the devastating flooding for 2018. Parking on the beach looks now to the lost forever...really too bad. As a long time vacationer, and for you who seem to be a 'local', your knowledge of places, names is poor. You sound more like a short term vacationer who hasn't spent much time on island...you could do better in the future with some of this.
