Hi guys Sandra from Australia here. Came by the channel by chance I’m watching from episode 1 I don’t know if you know this but if you cover your windows in winter you don’t lose your warmth. Bare windows will suck your heat out. I know I’m way behind but really enjoying watching you guys. From the beginning Keep up with the great videos Cheers from Australia

Your kids may not like this due to wanting their privacy but I found when living a static in winter that all doors inside need to be opened. If a room was closed off with people in it breathing all night, it made the damp so much worse.

Looking at your drone shots, you've hot a lot of Ash trees around. They are being hit hard with Ash dieback, so lots of firewood around you. Mate and his wife lived in a static when building their house. Was it cold? Well, they said they had to put on more clothes before going to bed!

Having brought and renovated a old house, the only way to dry a house, no matter the size is stopping it from getting damp, then adding heat took several years to dry our house out. @@WhataTry some of us have to renovate to our income stream, we had to fix design faults to a now 160 year old farmhouse that every 30 years the orginal family, every generation did stuff to improve it, but technology has meant you now insulate all walls, roof, double glaze, install better heating system in a country where this costs a lot more than the northern hemisphere. There is a reason so many houses are now built with a life expectancy of 30 years in New Zealand. The cost of a full update of paint, flooring, curtains, plus kitchen, laundry and bathrooms is not a few thousands of dollars but many thousands per standard room. Until the Earthquake in 2010 my nickname for our home was bulldozer bait, but it sustained minor damage, a few cracks in the plaster in the one room left to renovate.

Put in a fence to let flowers climb up

I'm thinking that would be an amazing idea for those posts, but just not next to the pond! 🤣

Keep cracking on guys. I live in a urrr purpose built house, black mould everywhere! The dehumidifier does work but it's a 24/7 process. If I have learnt anything, use lime create, platster where u can.
@theirishhomestead11 ай бұрын
Thats terrible! We are definitely using lime products for the walls. Sam has been on a roundtower course already.

What an adventure. Im from South West Ireland, but I live in GA, USA. I admire you both for taking this huge leap, and taking on all this work, its going to be gorgeous when finished, Im sure. I do miss the fresh air and clean water and the simple life…… the weather would be hard for me, though. Ill be following along…..👏

Thank you for the kind words of support. Yep the weather isn't easy but worth it for the life we have here. ❤️

Wishing you all the luck in the world. I know how much work this is and i hope you are successful in reaching your dream.

Thank you so much! It is a lot of work and the pressure will be on with only 13 months and a limited budget. Fingers crossed we get it done.

For the pond posts, why not ,create a living willow fence, pretty cost effective, would flourish in the setting. And would lovely in bloom.

I really like this idea! Will have to look into it properly but great suggestion. Thanks for👍

Everytime I see your thumbnail I see people shapes in the trees and I can't unsee it now😅 what a beautiful view though. Even if you have mythical ents walking amongst you 😊😊

So many people said this! Love that you see it too! Thank you.

Loved the views from the drone. Can you all use a propane or kerosene heater. The kitties are so cute I would let them stay inside a little longer a big predator bird could carry them off

Thank you for your concern. Don't worry, I have a close eye on the kittens!😁

hey guys i really felt i should let ye know just in case you didnt already the government is having a housing crisis in ireland so they are giving people 70,000 euros if they are renovating a derelict house you might want to look into it in case ye already havent. because we are doing something similar to ye and its a great help

Thanks! We have been approved for the grant so now we are on a tight 13 month deadline to get it done and hopefully get some money back. 🍀🤞

The drone footage is great, I love this foggy atmosphere, it's always fairy! The door is cool, what a job! The poles, well...they were there so why not?! (maybe for little climbing plants or for a boat mooring?)
@theirishhomestead11 ай бұрын
I said to Sam are you planning on mooring a boat?! 😆 it would have to be the size of a cardboard box 📦
