I missed all the drama as it unfolded. Thanks for the recap!

Cheeky pigeon. But this proves owls aren't the most intelligent but glad the 8 nestling had feasted!

It’s pretty bad when a pigeon outsmarts another bird!
@shlingusdingus41747 ай бұрын
More like intimidated. Owls may be birds of prey, but they are not about to engage in conflict that might get them or their chicks injured or killed. Pigeons are aggressive too, and they can snap a wing of another bird if motivated enough.

Wow, I wonder how many rodents an owl can catch in one night, seems like it’s at least 10 or so.
@tofi21 Жыл бұрын
Watch cam4 live, the parents hunted 33 rodents last night to feed their 8 nestlings (+ certainly ate 2-3 rodents each by themselves outside the nest and cam view)

Wow, was there really any doubt the Owls would get rid of the pigeon? 😁 Especially with 8 hungry mouths to feed.

Maybe add another tunnel so the Owls can avoid the fat pigeon blocking the entrance.

If an owl can't beat a pigeon it's probably doomed anyway.
@shlingusdingus41747 ай бұрын
Owls are not equipped to deal with them and are very careful about which threats they consider taking on. Pigeons can be HIGHLY aggressive, so that would be like trying to fight off a Rottweiler with your bare hands every time you come home to feed your family. Owls are not confrontational most of the time and can be intimidated easily by larger or more aggressive birds. You're seriously expecting an animal who hasn't adapted to dealing with pigeons to shape up.

Could the owls just catch the pigeons and feed them to the owlets?
@WC3fanatic997 Жыл бұрын
They probably could, but maybe they're wary of that since the pigeons are so damn stupid they fear it might poison their young.

owls can only swallow prey whole, so it has to be small.

My real question is where is the mom? That way the Mom can feed her babies and the Dad can stand look out in case a pigeon comes back.

I think once the chicks get old enough and large enough to keep themselves warm they both tend to live in another nest and come over to feed occasionally

pigeons had an egg in the box, and the owls come and kicked Mama pigeon out she had to leave egg 🥚 behind... got to wonder if this might be the same pigeon come back to take over the nest... I think that pigeon going to have to wait for a while
