Stella, we watch you for so much more than your hair. The hair is just a medium. It's your personality. Your creativity. Your humour. All that is you. It must feel awful to lose those subscribers who you'd worked so hard to gain, but please know that there are so many us who will watch you hair, no hair, wigs, whatever.

Chopping off all my hair was actually such a confidence boost. Everyone was telling me how much they hated it, how it was such a mistake, how much I'd regret it, and I never did. Every time I cut my hair super short, it's like I'm no longer hiding behind it. I noticed my posture changed and I started experimenting with different clothes and colors I'd never wear. Some people may have left but I found you because you shaved your head. It's a different audience. If you like it then it was the best decision

I shaved off mine at the beginning of the year with the intention of growing it back after a year and it was absolutely freeing. So freeing that I don't want to grow it back at all. I had already reached a point in my life where I had no F'ucks to give so any negative backlash just washed off my back.

I also shaved my head and boy was it a social experiment too. I don’t think any man hit on me, told me I was beautiful, or so much as looked at me with interest for a year. I got a few compliments from women, but mostly a response you’re so brave, I would do that but I can’t because___. if I had been wanting attention I would have probably felt hurt but I was actually wanting less attention for how I looked and to just be treated like a person, an equal, and appreciated for who I was apart from how I looked. I also did it to not hide behind my hair or looks and to encourage myself to be more expressive, show people who I was. I never felt less objectified in my life. Anytime I felt beautiful it was because of who I was. But in the eyes of the other men and women, I’m not sure. I thought I looked fabulous. Beautiful. Exposed. Authentic. And I glad I had less followers, because they were following something that wasn’t me.

Same! ♥ I went for the 'boyish' supershort cut, inspired by Stella's look. My hair is the same color as Stella's and I discovered I have curls! instead of 'hard to tame' ☺ Before the cut I was trying to grow out my artificial colored hair. I have one white/grey streak front and center and this just looked very messy and unkept as soon as it showed up in my long hair. Now I love my natural hair and instead of hiding my greys with paint all the time, it's the coolest part of my look.

@Lyd For me it was a pretty impulsive decision haha. And I’ll be honest, for the first day of having short hair I absolutely hated it because I’m not good with change, but after being able to style it myself and get used to it gradually, I loved it. Mostly I just didn’t allow myself to overthink it. It’s just hair. It’s just dead bits of keratin hanging off your head, and it grows back way faster then you’d think. I had a pixie cut in 2019, that I didn’t want - it was an accident. I went to a professional wanting blonde hair and she melted off my hair. My hair went from being two and a half feet long to only about an inch long. During this time I had male coworkers make rude comments about “why on earth would you cut your hair so short?” I had my 3 year long boyfriend break up with me because he was no longer “physically attracted to me” and we lived together / split the rent, so everything was now all on me. My confidence was so low I couldn’t even leave my apartment to go grocery shopping, be seen in public in anyway, and even going to work each day was humiliating. It took 3 years to grow out and now I feel like myself again. It was a very hard journey

If people are getting what they want to see from one creator, they will find someone else out there who is. That’s just the ebbs and flows of popularity on a platform. To be honest, what pushed people to unsubscribe is how she has recently constantly pushed this narrative that she loves it but her viewers made her regret it but not liking it. I found Stella's video because I have a Bob that I like to colour. I do not wish to shave my hair, but I still viewed her content maybe not as frequently because it doesn't relate to me... But these passive aggressive comments we're she says "I like it but YOU don't", are what pushed me to unsubscribe. Stella knew she was known for hair so when she shaved it all off she knew she'd loose subs she even said herself when she was doing it, yet when it actually happened she keeps blaming her viewers for not relating to it? It's like if a plus size fashion KZbinr suddenly lost a bunch of weight and was a reg fashion KZbinr, shed loose a tone of subscribers not cause people don't support weight loss but cause that's not the reason why they followed her in the first place. Blaming her audience is doing nothing but more damage.

I actually didn't stop watching your channel because you buzzed your hair, it's because you started the dyessecting careers thing, which I personally was not really into. Nothing wrong with the videos, just wasnt something I was interested in watching. I actually loved when you buzzed your hair and did the designs. To me, that feels like you are in alignment and doing what inspires you creatively. It's beautiful to see someone liberated and going against society. I believe that will always lead to success and happiness. It would make me want to watch you less if you grow your hair back just to get views. I don't want to watch someone that is only seeking views. I'd rather watch someone creatively inspired. Because it inspires me and it's natural. Idk just a personal perspective. Wish you the best.

speaking for just myself, my own interests and not from a place of judgment towards you or your hair, i personally am not particularly interested in buzzcut dyeing videos in general. it could be as simple as a significant portion of your viewers are in the same boat and just don’t find short-short hair videos particularly interesting/prefer to watch videos that showcase color and styles on longer hair that can be styled far more ways and include extensions and whatnot. i think that’s fine and kind of to be expected.

Awuh! Stella! This is a beautiful period in life. You're going to learn your true followers and supporters. This is a beautiful chance to start a hair growth journey for many women in your shoes. You can still come up with creative patterns. You shouldn't chase the views! I've loved you and your content for many, many years. Tbh, I stopped watching because I have a horrible habit of cutting off all my hair. I didn't stop to think that I should have been here to support you. I love short hair and I grew mine out for my wedding. Every, damn, time I see short hair, I'm in the seat getting it chopped. I hope you get out of this rut and know that you shouldn't regret anything in life.

omg STELLA! I can relate to you so much.. I shaved off my hair two years in a row, Jan 2020 and Jan 2021. Every single time, I was amazed by the way my hair grew, and still to this day! The hair-growing journey has been nothing but fun - from experimenting with different lengths and styles.. it definitely makes this very hard process a fun one! Right now my hair looks like a grown out mullet: very long hairs near the nape, short hairs that don't go past my ears.. and an extremely overloaded top that makes me want to cry sometimes because it doesn't know which way to go.. Can't wait to see your journey and the way you handle it! Love, Serina xox

I could see this was a creative delight for you, and I was glad you took the leap. And I watched the buzzcut dying episodes to see if I would enjoy them. The patterns and effects were pretty, but not... interesting, to me. I, personally, watch hair videos to learn how to style hair, and this didn't offer what I was looking for. The viewing experience of watching you paint your head also didn't vary much episode to episode. BUT. I don't expect you, or any creator, to tailor your content to me. And similarly, I don't feel obligated to watch what doesn't interest me just to support a creator. I broke my own rule because I wanted to like them, and I could see you were excited, and that made me happy. But eventually I had to admit they weren't for me. I understand being disappointed that some viewers didn't enjoy this as much as you did. Not every experience will translate into interesting videos for everyone. I hope you keep experimenting.

This will probably get buried but I think my thing with Stella's videos - was I subscribed to see the experimentation with colors, bleach, toning, etc. and it helped me understand how hair reacts to certain thing. When Stella shaved her head and was painting on it - I wasn't as interested because if you start with a pale blonde canvas then its not surprising that it'll turn out how you apply it (more or less). It would be boring to see someone dye there hair but always start with pale blonde. I enjoyed watching the experimentation to get from brown to light blue, or faded orange to green. There were also the wig styling videos which weren't that interesting after a while either. I have nothing against the shaved head I think it looks great on Stella - but her content changed rapidly and it just wasn't what I subscribed for.

I recently had a pixie style cut after a bleaching incident 🙈 and the sheer amount of comments (most positive) was the most shocking. However, I soon missed the length so I’ve started to grow it back out. I’m also dating and the amount of guys that have literally, as an opening question, asked if I have short or long hair and when I say short, either they stop replying or they’ll say ‘I prefer long hair’ is pretty shocking. it’s definitely affected my confidence unfortunately but I learned that you shouldn’t let anybody else’s views or opinions change how you live your life 💁🏻‍♀️🙌🏼

People are so closeminded, they think of women with buzz cut as mentally ill/deranged/self destructive. Its so funny, when its actually the opposite of all these things. You get so much more mentally healthy and less self destructive, you dont view yourself as an object who has to comform, you don't have the fear of not looking "pretty" and you live only for yourself. Women are not just "pretty things", and the reason why people dont act same way on boys who get buzz cut is because they expect us to be

Dear Stella. As a subscriber, I also feel the need of explaining what happened. And I feel it's just due to appreciation to what you do. 1. You are an inspiration. It's because of you that I decided to dye a part of my hair aquamarine. I even bought the same color you used, I wanted to recreate the emerald one, you know, that one. 2. I loooooved all your looks, I watched every video when you did designs in your hair, long, short, bald, whatever. I used to watch your videos religiously during lunch time hahaha. I think the last one I watched was the Henna one. 3. However, and this is the hard part, I stopped watching just because wigs are not my thing. It doesn't mean that you should stop, or something like that, it's just that the content became mostly that, there used to be more of what I liked before, I loved watching your reactions, dying, compilations, hair transformations, your boyfriend doing haircuts, your experiments and all that stuff. But the content changed, my schedule changed, the algorithm changed as well. Just keep it up, your content is what brought me here and what made me stay, NOT the short hair.

Stella - as a loyal follower I feel I owe an explanation for my reduction in viewership: it was never shaving off all of your hair. I would have loved seeing more of it, including fun colors! It was your content for me - I just am not into watching people do other people's hair unless it's something I want to do to mine or is really dramatic. I also don't care for the compilation videos you put out, but that is just my personal irritation with the format. As a consumer of such videos for mainly entertainment purposes, buzzed hair doesn’t provide that thrill or that suspense which “longer” hair does. Also we watch you for a lot of reasons besides just "hair", I personally love what you do with wigs but what I love the most is when you do make overs to different people, that's totally awesome, you have a lot of skills and we will keep watching you to see your journey until you get your hair long again :) (or not, just do what you want and we will still be here I promise)
