This is off the mark but when she said "My mom and dad said they first met under the moonlight. I didn't buy their cover story, it didn't feel right" I took that as she even saw her parents' marriage had cracks in it. Her parents got divorced I think when she was 7 (she was open about this early on in her career). You know how parents who are falling out of love are: they will try to present themselves like everything is ok and kinda brace you for the news with all the talks about how much they love each other and you and reflect on the good times, but as kids we secretly hear all the arguments and notice how cold the house becomes in the days leading up to it. I feel like she could already see that their love was not as perfect as they tried to make it out to be.

wait i never thought of it this way her mind omg

I almost broke down when I heard it for the first time especially going through a bad breakup
@itsnoahcarter3 жыл бұрын
i would not say it's basic. AT ALL. literally, never seen an artist with a song like that, doubting the phrase sill trying to find the "why" in the everything that happened to her, and also i see it more than just a break up song, it's more about all of what she went thru mentally and physically in the music industry
@quivaruselkins98853 жыл бұрын
@@itsnoahcarter I would argue that the song is basic. Lyrically the song is good and that’s what makes its stand out but the layout and instruments are basic. Amazing song though.

@@itsnoahcarter I never said I don’t appreciate the song. Again it is good but basic. There is her vocal over a guitar, a sample, her vocal over a guitar, a sample with her voice, and her singing. It’s a very simple layout. But the sound is beautiful.

This album is a perfect representation of Borderline Personality Disorder. Madison was diagnosed a few years back. I also have BPD, and this album is such a great example of how wild it is. The rapid up and downs are very much expressed here. You go from eccentric songs to depression. Stay Numb and Cary On is about dissociation. BPD typically has three points: extremely negative emotions, extremely positive emotions, and sometimes no emotions at all. For many of us, we dissociate - especially in times of distress (like a break up). Sporadic and volatile relationships are a key component of BPD, specifically with the intense fear of abandonment and rejection. For most, they can get over a breakup relatively easy. For us, a breakup genuinely sends us into fight or flight and feels like the end of the world. Perceived abandonment and rejection (even imagined) sends us into this. We split on our partners and think in black in white: I love you, I hate you (there’s a song by Demi Lovato that you can find on KZbin due to it being a bonus track called “I hate you, don’t leave me” that describes this). It’s an emotional rollercoaster, with us being the most passionate and also the most terrible lovers at different times. It effects every aspect of our life: how we interact, how we perceive, how we love, how we feel, and all brain functions. This comment doesn’t even scratch the surface of how complex this disorder is. It sucks, but this album genuinely feels so relatable. Hopefully some of that explains the album for those who came in blind as well.
