That's got to have been out of this world frightening, luckily we haven't had any reported repercussions of that.

Goodbye to my wife. I know what that means. But that's life when i look back to this moment. Heros are born in extrem situations.

Okies, why use fire extinguishers 4 of them, instead of instantly putting th ed fire out? Clearing that cabin seal the doors on each end, vent into Space all traces of fire etc. gone, done for, out almost instantly. Then repressurize, clean up the mess from the fire. By venting the Atmosphere from that Cabin would kill the fire immediately, no Oxygen no fire.

1) Venting -- Venting would require the usage of oxygen to re-pressurise, and in space oxygen is limited especially after a fire burns most of it. The cause of the fire would also not be known well and if you depressurise rapidly you might cause damage to the point of a module/station loss. You also, in haste, likely can't check how sealed the doors would be it wouldn't be nice to be venting whatever you have left out, decompression on the human body even if you a breathing oxygen is bad. Verrrry bad. >> Note -- It was the oxygen system itself which was burning 2) The fuel of the fire itself was self-oxidising meaning that it is completing two of the three sides in the fire triangle. For fire you need: Heat, Oxygen, Fuel. It had its fuel burning, it was heating itself and was producing its own oxygen. While a decompress MIGHT work with temperature there is the requirement of waiting until anything smouldering goes out. If they re-introduce oxygen from another part of the module, or vent then seal again, the system might just reintroduce oxygen BY ITS OWN DESIGN into the compartment and possibly turn the module explosive. 3) On another note- venting oxygen I'm pretty sure is impossible unless you use an airlock, and in this case the only airlock useable was the docking point. The other being blocked by the fire etc. etc. etc.... 4) Fire extinguishers would be the best bet in this situation as you need to cool the fire quickly but in a controlled matter. The filters on-board are likely able to deal with such particulates or gasses (not sure if they'd be CO2) but in any case the system would have an easier time scrubbing and resetting then trying to produce more oxygen from no-where.... I wouldn't try to burn another oxygen candle or anything for that matter if I almost lost my life to something burning already. first they would have to put on a spacesuit to breathe, which putting on a spacesuit takes way too long
