Whoa....you said "lead" and I perked up because I have a DIL who was unknowingly exposed to high levels of lead two years ago and has been having all kinds of weird medical issues, INCLUDING seizures!! PLEASE have this checked thoroughly because Zade may have contracted the lead in utero. I could be totally off base, but I just couldn't let this go unsaid. Praying for you all.

Friends who I grew up with, who married after high school, and their 3 children were driving down a 4 lane street -when a lady had a seizure and came into their lane and killed the dad and 2 of the 3 children in their SUV. So, it is so important to abide by the guidelines - they aren’t perfect - best medical advise available on stats of when seizures can occur. Hang in there. You are doing the right thing by waiting. The mom and son (friend & son) have had such a hard time adjusting. So incredibly sad.

I can totally relate to your driving ( or rather, non-driving) frustrations, it can be so tough, especially when you have a family! I am legally blind, I have been since I was a kid (and my 37th 😮birthday is next Tuesday), and I have never been allowed to drive. My kids are 8 and almost-7, and it can be so hard to make sure they can do all of the sports and activities they want when only one parent can drive, schedules with work/school/drs/etc get sooo busy. Technology has been a blessing, especially since I live in a small, remote town. I get groceries delivered and everything, but also don’t get to leave the house super often. You have every right to feel the way you feel about it, it takes a lot to have to be dependent on others for yourself and your family, and you are doing wonderful walking through this time with grace! Hang in there girl! (Evan, you as well! I also know how hard it can be on my husband, and the stress that occurs when trying to be everywhere all at once. You both are amazing!) 😊

My husband works for a company that sells playgrounds and they just had their warehouse sale. Top quality stuff way less than retail. Since the kids won't be able to play with a swing set much for several months maybe see about getting on list for alerts for sales like that. Then you get best equipment at lowest prices. We have gotten pool table, playground, air hockey, basketball shooting game, and other stuff like this to use or donate. His company is escalade sports probably about 5 hrs away from yall but I would imagine other companies do the same if you have any closer. It is just magical to have little kids at Christmas and I hope this one is extra special for yall. God bless.

My sister and brother-in-law bought a very nice swing set, etc for their grandchildren for Christmas last year. They wrapped an 8x10 picture of the swing set and for them to unwrap. They explained to the kids they would be taking the swing set home that night and it would be out together when weather allowed. The kids loved it.

When my daughter was 4 she wanted the Barbie Airplane. I told her I would never be able to afford it. (Broke single Mom in nursing school ) I went to Target the day before Christmas Eve. (BTW that is when Target does major markdowns on the toys!) It was 75% off!!!!! So Santa 🎅 was sealed!!!! Cutest story. Too much to type here.

I had to stop driving in 1995 for medical reasons - permanently. I know it's hard but you're just going to have to make up your mind that you can NOT drive right now. Put the possibility right out of your mind, because you're making it harder on yourself than it needs to be, Carlin. The risk is not worth it, and you know that. How about you just try to accept what is until it can change, however long that might be? Anybody who cares about you should be more than happy to help out, and perhaps if you would look at it as a blessing that you have people to help you, you can set your mind to accepting their generous rides and the privilege of the extra time that will give you with those who care for you and your family. Yes, it is most certainly inconvenient. It's been going on for awhile and you want things to go back to normal. So use the time the best way you can, and try to figure out what you're supposed to be learning from all of this. Because until then, you and I both know nothing will change. Be thankful you have options, and that people love you enough to want to make things as easy as possible for your family. You aren't stranded, and this isn't permanent. You'll get through it, this whole thing will be resolved. Just maybe not today. Don't be in a hurry if you want the RIGHT answers. Unfortunately, medical issues aren't always easy or quick to sort out. I wish you patience and peace and better health.

If you have Warden use 4x4s and make a A frame swing set, it will hold swings and you can add a slide to one end. Much more affordable as well, as you can buy your parts.

I understand the frustration but also please don’t don’t drive before you have things figured out with your DRs and you don’t have anymore issues. I know the outright seizure situation has lightened w meds and I’m so glad. But the brief moments of confusion - could be so so dangerous in the car if driving. And even if you have an episode and it means you have to ‘reset’ the clock … please reset it as frustrating as it feels. Because people WANT TO HELP and YOU safe too important and the kids are too important for any avoidable risks to be taken. We are all rooting for you and also really glad that things seem to be controlled by your meds! ☮️

*Helpful Hint* 🤗 That I did when mine were little - Buy a Swing-Set - that has a built in bench with back on it / swing / within the set - that way as the children get older and can swing on their own - y’all can have a place to , not only to sit, but y’all can swing too . Also , my prayers are still with you . 🤍 When someone does not have a car, seems like - if a car is being repaired or in the shop, that’s the time that you want to go somewhere the most!! Carlin, try a crock pot. You’ll have a homemade dinner waiting for you when you get home if you start it in the morning before you leave for work. You can order groceries on line and do a pick up or delivery if you don’t have time or can’t get to the store. I don’t drive either and that’s how I make it work.

Keep a notepad and pen next to your bed. When your mind begins to race with the things you need to do or remember, pull out the pad and start listing them. This really helps me put my thoughts “to sleep” so my body can follow.

I’m disabled and when I have my upcoming surgery the doctor requires no driving which means taxis. I will get a prescription for the taxis so I can write off the trips on taxes. One can choose Uber but I feel safer using a Taxi. You can ask your doctor for prescription for Taxi/Uber and save the receipts for taxes. Good luck. Door dash might be a write off because you can’t drive. Just get a prescription from the doctor since you can’t drive. The wheelchair purchase is a write off with a doctors prescription. Anything that is required because of what Carlin is going through is most likely a tax write off with a prescription and receipt. The costs add up quickly. Your contact lens solution is a medical write off and you don’t need a receipt for that. All the supplements you take are a medical write off and that one doesn’t require a prescription just a receipt. All employee team building ( golf, sporting events) is a write off as long as biz is discussed),reward dinners, Xmas dinner or lunch for employees is a tax write off, or the owners going out dinner discussing biz is a write off. Be sure to check with your accountant and always save receipts. If Izzy becomes a medical dog for you her food , vet bills, daycare is a medical writer off. I always get a. Prescription from the doctor for everything. I am unable to use my arm so I got a prescription for pedicure and manicures to write off on taxes. Nobody tells you this when you get sick or have an injury. Good luck Carlin and Stew Crew!

Just an idea.. you could get something smaller now and then something bigger as the kids get bigger. We have 5 kids and started out with a metal swingset. Since they are getting older and bigger, we wanted something "bigger". So, we actually made 2 wooden ones with treated lumber. The one has 3 swings on it (big enough for adults too!) The other one has 2 different swings and is attached to a "tree fort" with a sandbox underneath. Big hit with the kids!

Please don’t get a cheap swing set, like those from Lowe’s (and other hardware stores). Even though they are hundreds of dollars they tip over easily and don’t last. Also, things like whole grains are great for iron. My two year old daughter likes peanut butter sandwiches on whole grain bread. You can also make pastas that are whole grain.

I have them too. I go through periods I can’t sleep, and periods all I want to do is sleep. Then normal. They have me sleeping with oxygen now at night because of my episodes, etc. Y’all have a safe week.

Just something to think about. We never know our circumstances in life nor the future, might not ask what they want for Christmas but ask them to just look through what they like for fun with no promises of getting it. So they can learn not to expect a gift but be thankful they got something they were dreaming about if you can purchase it. If you couldn't buy it for any reason your children will still have a thankful Christmas as they weren't expecting a particular item. When my kids were young I could count on my hand things I promised. I would usually say. Lord willingbwe will do this or that To teach them that things might not happen like you plan and it's okay and God is still good and I didn't have to take the chance of breaking a promise to them. Love yall praying for yall and learning to depend is a good thing as it helps to learn to depend on the Lord more. Getting things we ask for has the potential to be an expectation instead of a gift

I think if you want a really good quality outdoor set for the kids get get Warden to design and build it - buy in the slide and swings etc - but make it so it can be expanded over time as the kids get older - the ones you purchase and put together only last 5 years max
