This is a beautiful episode showcasing Betty White's tender heart! (I couldn't hurt a lobster, either)

And it's okay to kill a fish... The problem I have, is the hypocrisy, and the virtue signaling.

@@oldyellerschannel4676 I am currently a lacto-ovo vegetarian (with milk and free-range eggs), but aspire to returning to being vegan (was vegan in the 90s, and never felt better!!)

I have no need to compare this show with the others mentioned below. I think there was/is plenty of variety to suit the average viewer. A marvel-loving each episode!!! thanks for this!

If you could cook we wouldn't have all these cans !!! Considering what was on at the time, Burns and Allen, The Honeymooners, I Love Lucy etc. I think they held their own. Thanks Lorre. It made me laugh :o)

Oh I think this is one of my favorite episodes. I love that Betty White, even back in 1953 before anyone really considered how cruel it is to boil lobsters alive, made the point on television--and saved a lobster. ♥

I love that Alvin isn't the hardass he at first seems to be. He always gives in to her shenanigans. These are the same shenanigans that I get up to over 65 years later!!!

I see a lot of Rose Nylund in the Elizabeth character. A bit of an airhead but good-hearted and outgoing.

It's also cruel to boil shrimps and crabs alive. It's so unbearable to hear them scrabbling about inside the pot of boiling water.

This show was obviously made as an imitation of the Burns & Allen Show which came out 2 years earlier. But Betty White was no Gracie Allen and Del Moore was no George Burns.

Actually, the skits were based on things in their own lives, of both the actors and the writers & on the past radio show Betty had done. So...they were copying themselves, really. 😊
