Meet Nasir, Ashraf, Ain and Shahir - four individuals with learning differences who have graduated from MIJ Hub, a school for special needs children, teenagers and young adults. To transition from school to work, they must earn their keep at Ashraf’s Cafe.
From working in the kitchen to serving customers - we explore what it takes for people with special needs to work in a service-related job. Now and then, tensions arise as they struggle to communicate with difficult customers, and we show the public’s attitudes towards them. Will they be able to survive the needs of a fast-paced and demanding society or will they crack under pressure?
Catch up on Work.Able: • Work.Able | Full Episodes
=========
About the show: Work.Able follows seven profiles with special needs as they leave the shelter of school life and navigate through the working world for the first time. Will they be accepted by the rest of society?

To the people saying it’s not the customer’s fault, I’m sorry but his sense of entitlement is a tad too much here. It’s not the 5* Hilton hotel. Even if the waiters are ordinary people, there’s no need to sound rude, no need to raise his voice, no need to shout etc. Mistakes can happen anywhere, so what? Humility and empathy are virtues that really can’t be taught. The old man just needs to go sit at a kopitiam where he can serve his entitled a** on his own 😑 there’s a clear sign near the cashier that warns of the people who work there anyway. It takes tremendous effort for these people to do the things we can easily do, a little understanding to encourage them would be nice. Good video by the CNA though 👏🏼

People that excuse the rude customer's behaviour are also part of the problem in our society. Imagine a world where people treat each other with dignity & empathy. U reap what you sow

This coach is so patient and helpful. I am so glad to see such nice people around to teach and guild these people with special needs. I am proud of these people with needs able to work hard to self support themselves and contribute to society. We should support such organizations and these businesses that give people with needs a chance to self support and live and interact with people in the society. Please be extra patient to everyone so we dont accidentally hurt anyone serving us.

When looking at the scene when the boy cried because of a non understanding customer some may feel that the customer is unbecoming but it is not customer fault. The restaurant should make clearly through posters and signage that the restaurant is to help autistic people and they the customers should not expect expeditious service.
