Hate to break it to you but the Bible clearly states that our God gave us freedom to go down any path we may choose, often times straying from the right path to gain experience, learn valuable life lessons, and to possibly and hopefully bring those we met to God.

This is true, but it's even better if we don't stray off God's path to begin with. It saves us a lot of pain and heartache. Unfortunately, we (and definitely including myself!) tend to be stubborn and have to learn things the hard way. -- Jenni

There is a balance between self care and caring for others. If you swing to either extreme, it is problematic. If you are only focused on self-care, then you are selfish. If you only care for others, then you burn out. Pastor Craig clearly takes care of himself. He works out. He eats healthy. He gets enough sleep. Those are all self care measures and it is not selfish.

Dying to self and denying self I understand but self care the right way not the worldly way where is it? This sermon makes perfect sense and reminds me of psychologist Jordan Peterson talking about the way to improve social anxiety is to NOT focus on yourself being comfortable, but to focus on making the others feel comfortable.

Wow I was just talking to a friend about this. He had been deeply hurt by some Christian’s. He spoke of us looking at others but not looking at ourselves. I saw the hurt in his eyes I could not argue I quickly apologized and asked his forgiveness.

I've been listening to many sermons lately, and each one feels fresh and revitalizing. It really is beneficial to pay attention to the sermons as they progress. While Ptr. Craig was preaching, I found myself curious about how to establish boundaries while still prioritizing others, especially since we all have our own needs to consider. However, it all became clear to me at 26:33. Thank God for that!

I love it when my husband puts me first. Sadly, it doesn’t happen very often. We can be out in public and if we’re on a narrow trail. He will literally push me out of the way so a stranger can pass. I think that it's extremely important to defirinciate between self care and selfishness. It's not an issue of loving ourselves too much or too little, but instead, it's a matter of loving ourselves in the correct ways and with the correct perspective of self care. self indulging and doing what we want is not loving ourselves. Paying attention to our body, mind, and spirit and tending to them is. I believe that is honoring God's property and how He can use us best.
