I've never heard of this movie but I am a sucker for practical effects, and that looked bloody good for 1985. Hell, that looked fine by today's standards, I think. A relatively short scene with no context, and it was still creepy.

Context: if memory serves correctly that those “zombies” you’re seeing are actually vampires, space vampires to be in fact. These aren’t the type that suck blood like in Dracula and countless other vampiric films, they actually consume our “lifeforce” like in the title, kinda similar to a succubus and incubus in a way. They need our lifeforce for sustenance and they need more of it to survive, very much like a vampire and if they don’t get enough or heck if they don’t consume at all they’ll shrivel up and explode into dust. That’s what happened to those vampires because they were freshly transformed and needed that sweet lifeforce to suck up, and well…. you saw what happened.

*Ghouls. If a Vampire drains his/her victim completely it becomes a ghoul. A ghoul is simillar to a zombie, but the difference is a zombie only feeds on flesh and ghouls adapt the instincts and nature of their vampiric killers. But they're no Vampires.

@SadAndVengeful
@SadAndVengeful 11 ай бұрын
@@tonymata8070 More or less. Ghouls have no free will. If they don't serve their Masters as slaves, they wander around and attack everything they can feed on (blood or life energy) - just like zombies do. I don't think Billy from Fright Night was a ghoul. Ghouls are literally roting corpses and he was of a normal human appearance alright. I think he was more of a creature created by a powerful magic - a familiar spirit comes to mind. The best picture of a ghoul was in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow game. I mean, in my opinion. I hope my english didn't make your eyes bleed, 'cause it's not my native, heh.

Actually there was a jump scare involving the first guy, just a scene or two beforehand, while he was lying for autopsy (He actually fed on the doctor - the second vampire - then). I suppose the director thought two jump scares involving the same character would be too superfluous.
