As I shattered my meniscus and cartilage as a 16 years old kid 30 years ago, .... the docters told me I could never do any sports ever again. I walked on crutches for over two years and had to learn to walk again! So my pro carreer being a goalkeeper at soccer was over. And my cycling carreer! And I was was told never to do any skateboarding in my life. I was broken! But I was lucky that the older boys in my street always where surfing. They tought me how to play a digeredoo and challenged me to surf. Those guys made me into a surfer! It was the only thing I still can do! They changed my whole life! Surfing is life!

With how much pain Jethro was describing, I would be afraid of severe complications. Perferated ear drums are not uncommon with severe ear infections and if you let those symptoms lie without treatment they could lead to hearing loss.

@@antohein. Untreated/severe ear infections can lead to hearing loss. My friend is deaf in one ear because they had several as a child that went untreated long enough that the pressure build-up perforated their ear drum. (they went untreated because that friend is autistic and has sensory issues - they didn't realize that constantly being in agonizing pain wasn't normal) But hey do you know the trick for getting water out of your ear to avoid Swimmer's ear in the first place? Just put in a drop of rubbing alcohol to break the surface tension of the water. Generally takes a second person to make sure your head is angled right to get the drop to go in, but then you should feel when it reaches the trapped water and breaks the tension, then just tilt your head the other way to get both out.

Vertigo is certainly not the best type of nausea! Hydration and some cool air definitely helps, especially after exerting that much energy. Persistent, chronic ear aches can eventually cause permanent hearing impairment and damage to his sense of balance if not seen to and cleared up. That is real pain. I had one of those. Your ear is pounding and you are walking sideways. I had to get on a plane with my 2 month old to go to a funeral. Sick the whole time but on landing my heart was pounding, I was sweating, and my head felt like it was being hit by lightning over and over. I literally handed my baby to a stranger and put my head between my hands. No joke, worst pain I have ever felt. Then a huge pop and all this gross stuff came out of my ear and the pain was mostly gone. Come to find out I also had a massive infection in all my sinuses.

I'm always so conflicted when the people laugh after a near miss... I once nearly got hit by a tram and afterwards I was nervously laughing so much. Driver got so mad at me but I just couldn't stop giggling and saying sorry and giggling and oh my oh my....

Jethro should really get checked for Vertigo. I get it often with ear infections and it will make you feel so sick and dizzy.
