I Put Plants & Animals in a Jar for a Year, This Happened | Spring ecosphere 1 year update

Life in Jars?

Life in Jars?

5 жыл бұрын

It's been a year since I made the HUUGE spring ecosphere in the 10 liter jar. The closed ecosystem has proven to be extremely successful over the past year. It contains a lot of different species of animals: bladder snails, aquatic isopods, daphnia, hydra, copepods, ostracods, planaria and loads more. In this one year update I explain what has happened the past twelve months and what the ecosphere looks like now.
Enjoy!

The life inside this jar doesn't need the life outside the jar, being it's own contained ecosystem. If all life on earth except for the life in the jars seized to exist, the life in the jar would go on like nothing happened. So yeah, cool thought.

The body of the oldest homo sapiens which was found was about 315 000 years old, my theory is that during one of the natural disasters which happened on earth like for example a huge volcanic disaster only one group of pre-humans survived in a deep cave with very small amount of individuals and during that period their species only survived by practising incest, incest usually increases the chances for disability in a species but also increasing the overall intelligence of a species, by living in a cave they would have had access mostly only to water and insects, insects being a very high protein and omega3 fat source contributed to larger brains and all those factors lead to what the human represents nowadays, nothing comparable in the animal kingdom. The Biggest Fallacy of Mankind is to think that they know their History.

Honestly humans are just the most adorable animal in the world, we had to fundamentally change everything we thought we knew to survive, had to create tools, math, and science in order to thrive, developed ways to bend nature itself to our will, but We still offered food to starving wolves during the cold winters A lot of us cry when our tiny robot helpers get scared during a thunderstorm We help take care of tiny furry animals just because, when every other animal wants to survive, we want to give survival to those that may have trouble attaining it; cats and dogs with only three legs, critters like that We have entire companies, giant groups of humans in a massive network of resources, purely to give our critters the food they prefer Humans are just absolutely adorable really

monabrown101 i guess that, gramatically, it should be « looked like » and not « look liked ». He stressed hjs mistakes out (« look » is the verb, like is « like » a word to connect the sentence, so « like » can not be past tense). It’s funny and cute because it’s a small mistake - since english is not his first language

The plants produce their own oxygen through photosynthesis! It's a waste product in that process, but means they can use it for respiration :) that's also why you can have closed terrariums with just plants in thrive for years without ever opening it!
