Fed bear, dead bear. Similarly, I suspect any raven that interacts with humans eventually runs into some nutjob that whacks it. I recall Mike Tyson once abused a hawk since it hunted some of his pet pigeons. Leave wildlife alone.

You’d think it would become anoxic my own prejudice not knowing would assume those walking moving eating pooping creatures would consume way more oxygen than the plant life could effectively replenish

The sound will work. I've used a specific sound to call chickens for about 25 years and it works fine. My grandma used a sound too when feeding (different sound than I do) for about 60 years and when she did the call they'd run from all over the yard / forest to come eat.

I recently decided to see what would happen if I sat really still. I just kind of spaced out listening to music with my ear buds in. I was hoping for some bigger birds like crows to get comfortable enough to approach. The first day I tried I got this funny little bird that decided my hair was perfect for its nest. It landed on me and started stealing my hair! It came back several times over the next hour or two that I stayed outside... I even got video! Not so comfortable having your hair pulled out, but still super cool! 😂😂😂 That was a few days ago. The next day it happened again. I’m hoping to graduate soon to other birds that maybe DON’T want to steal my hair… I’d love to befriend corvids. That’s always been the ultimate goal. There was one at a zoo near by that would talk. He was tricky though. He’d only do it if I didn’t look at him and no one else was around.😂😂😂

My theory is that the population shrunk and was only a very small population in the middle of the jar for some reason. Shrouded in the murky green water 🙂 but Yes, tubifex worms can enter a dormant state when conditions are not favorable, such as during drought or when water levels decrease. They form a protective cyst around themselves and can remain in this state until conditions improve.

I feed my guys boiled eggs and organ meats, I heard theyre obsessed with whole shell peanuts but I don't like squirrels and so far they literally just pack their beaks, like one piece after another (super stingy) even tucking snacks in the grass for later. Sometimes I just huck whole boiled eggs an let them peel it for fun but they seem to prefer scattered food and it's easier to distribute eggs by boiling it in a thin layer of water so it's flat that way you get more egg to shred up. Don't give them bowls of dry food like kibble though unless you spread it around, birds don't generate a lot of saliva and I thought one was choking and ran outside which scared the crap out of it

I've fed some wild birds as well. In my experience: Pidgeons will (if you let them) land ON your hand and eat Ducks will grab stuff from your hand (quite violently) Swans will also grab stuff from you, then hiss at you and attack :p Sparrows will be skittish at first, but given time, they will come very close, some will take food that they consider tasty enough from your hand, but not any random thing you offer :p Crows are too skittish (but maybe I haven't tried long enough), I had to throw the food as far as I was able to for them to take it One crow thoughstarted far away and wait until I threw something for it, then grab it, flied farther away, ate it, and returned within throwing distance. After a while, it came closer, but never ever within grabbing / lunging distance. And it always flew away before eating it I had a couple of magpies outside my previous apartment. I left some bread out, but nothing happened. I removed the bread and put some unsalted peanuts out, they were gone after 3-4 hours. After a few days they were usually gone within half an hour. Sometimes I could watch from the glass doors, but if I moved, they flew away. I then tried raisins. They were gone within fifteen minutes. I tried nuts again, nope, left untouched. Removed them and tried raisins again, they came the moment I closed the door :D Never could get them to eat while I was outdoors, but had fun watching them from inside. I have another couple where I live now, but so far no luck attracting their attention

I feed my crows cat food(more meat protein than dog food) and raw chicken (mostly the skin and fat that my dogs can't eat). They also love peanuts. And make sure to have a big tub of water so they can dip their food in it.

I have befriended birds in the past but I would never want to do this with a Corvid because of the noise, "help" and jealousy. If you are outside, they will keep you in eyesight, at the absolute furthest; if you are with someone else too much, they may start to harass that person and they will try to help you by bringing you trash and roadkill and taking revenge on anyone and anything the crow perceives as having slighted you. Also, if you ever get sick of having them around, breakup/falling out is MESSY. Personally, the constant screaming of a murder following me everywhere once the crow decides to bring it's bird friends into the relationship would be the absolute worst part of it.

Watch out. What's one of them starts talking to you and gets you to respond, you will never be left alone anywhere you go. I live in Georgia in the United States. I made friends with the crows living behind me on the hill 3 years ago. They adopted me and considered me part of their family. When I moved a few months ago, the crows where I live now started telling me to "go home." 😂 Young crows are especially vocal and will strike up a conversation with just 5:56 about anybody even though their vocalizations are very limited. Just talk to them like you would a normal person. They definitely understand human speech. They also consider it very rude for you to talk about them while they are nearby. Just go ahead and talk to them, people will think you're nuts, so put a Bluetooth earbud in your ear. They like it when you hide food too.

PIDGEON SLANDER! Now I admit, they are less good at problem solving in comparison to Corvids but the fact they're so comfortable with people has nothing to do with their intelligence and everything to do with them being _feral_ as oppossed to _wild_. Pidgeons are a domesticated animal that have established populations around human cities. They're basically free pets if you're broke and like birds.
