My Classic Mini is FINISHED | First Drive!

Hi Guys, Welcome back to Life In Motion! It's been far too long, I'm sorry about that but I'm back...
Here is my finished 1997 Rover Mini Cooper. I bought this car in May this year and have since been working to return the car back to original. I removed bits like a Union Jack roof and tinted windows, I've had the wheels refurbished and some oil leaks fixed.
I love how the car has come out and I hope you enjoy this first drive video.

Great looking Mini. I got into MINIs in 2003 with a new BMW MINI. I loved it so much I bought my '91 Rover Sport Pak Mini in 2011. It's not quite as sharp as yours but it does have a Weber, an upgraded ignition and a LCB exhaust header. Like yours not too quick but it sounds terrific and nothing get more attention here in Texas than a classic Mini. Keep up the good work. Paul

Excellent vid. Have a Red 2000 Cooper Sport [owned since 2019] with 17,000 on the clock. I'm actually enjoying driving again after many years in more modern cars. Great fun - no need to go fast. Like you not a fan of tinted glass/Union Jack roof. Totally original car - only added a socket for the sat-nav. And it fits in the garage....a bonus.

Hi great video 👍🏻 where did you get your dash and matching door cappings from? I am looking to renew my walnut dash as looking a bit tired and delaminating in places and wanted to add door cappings as well

The cappings were Mini sport and the Dash was from a mini supplier on eBay 👍🏻 well worth it

Nice update Jack, the mini looks great, you could improve the acceleration of that car by fitting a 3.1 ratio differential as the mpi minis have a 2.7 diff as standard and the diff is a bit too tall for the power that the engine has.

@@LifeInMotionuk you don't need discs on the rear, they will 'over brake" the car, if you want to upgrade the brakes then use either minisport or KAD 4 pot calipers with vented and grooved discs, I run 10" wheels on mine with 7.9" vented and grooved discs with minisport alloy 4 pot calipers with a remote servo and the brakes are fantastic.

When you talk about heel and toeing it does that mean you are not using the clutch to shift gears? Otherwise wouldn't double clutching achieve the same thing.... easier on the gear box? Cheers!

So I mean when I am slowing down and go to put the clutch in and change gear, I’ll break using my toe and then use my heel to blip the accelerator at the same time to help with a smoother gear change 👍🏻
