I've got the 718 base model 2019.. Having covered 10'000 miles this summer in it, I think can give an honest opinion. First of all it's designed to be in daily use should you choose so I think the exhaust has been designed with that in mind. With the push of a button the valves open which changes the exhaust note considerably when you want to toe it and have a bit of fun. The noise is really addictive combined with the engine note directly behind your head it delivers a decent sound that puts a smile on your face everytime. Admittedly it's not got the rumble of a 3.0ltr 911 but it's a completely different kind of car it's more athletically nimble , think of a fly in comparison to a bird. It's almost a super bike sound in relation to the deep rumble you'd say get on any of the RS cars Audi have on offer. Let's face it , if its really that much of an issue then get the exhaust changed by Genome Design check Nick out he has videos on here with loafs of tuning options and with the 718 it's a very affordable machine to upgrade the turbo have an engine remap throttle remap gear box remap with the exhaust upgrade pushing at least 500bhp in something that weighs less than my ex wife. With all of that work you'll e looking at something that costs about the same as a GT4 that will give it good competition on the road or track. These cars have loads of hidden potential waiting to be unlocked. I'm so glad I purchased mine.

Run flats are louder by nature, and there are more firm than non-run flat tyres. It’s only noticeable for most if you test back to back

Underneath it’s a manual gearbox. It’s not really a full automatic so yes it rolls back and has a biting point that’s part of the fun. To stop the lag you have have to be easy on the accelerator and flog it when it’s on like 3rd gear. Also you just press 1. And drive. Want the paddles? Press 1 and then A/M.

This car looks and is a bit too sporty... so if you dont drive sporty its a waste of money... everyone who buys that car should keep on eye that you should get ready to invest money into new tires, breaks, and other parts, since its a car you dont drive it as daily but as a sporty car. So it will be needed quickly to replace things...

Huge fan of this car 🔥 but surprised you didn't mention all the things that makes the Polestar Engineered version unique. Forged alloys, upgraded Akebono brakes, aluminium strut bar under the hood and manual adjustable Öhlins dampers. This separates it from regular XC60's. In addition to the Swedish Gold seatbelts and brake calipers. All unique for the Polestar Engineered XC60

I have SQ5 Comp, 2017, 340 horsepower. 112000 km on the odometer. I liked it at first, but now I am seriously considering to sell it. I just do not like it anymore. It feels so outdated inside, and although interior is quality, it just doesn’t feel special. Ride is very weak for the price.. although it has double mirrors, it doesn’t help with the noise at all, especially on 120+ km\h. Aaaand… it’s not super reliable. It is all right in terms of reliable, but not amazing. And a few weeks ago I did 4000 USD worth of repairs, 2500 USD was the leak in the engine. Why so costly? Because I had to dismantle gearbox and the engine to replace 40 USD part. So yeah… it costs for purchase and maintenance as a luxury vehicle, when it’s not. It’s just not. Audi A6 feels more special than this. If I don’t sell it, I will tune it to 400 HPS, maybe that will add it some charisma and some sarisfaftion for me.. we will see

Solution: invest £5 in a 5 litre bottle of screen wash then it won’t freeze up. I usually drive until something really needs fixing (rare) or some item fails and MOT (more common), then decide if I can fix it myself. If not get an independent garage to quote. I don’t drive a Cayman but am looking at the idea, but the cost issue you describe is more to do with throwing yourself at the mercy of a main dealer when out of warranty than the car itself. You’re going to get ripped off royally by any dealer on any car. Even on big standard cars I’ve seen some horrendous examples (like Toyota self-charging their own warranty provider over £1,100 for an O2 sensor when I fixed the next one myself for under £100 and half an hours work).

Gonna pick mine up this weekend probably, 2015 MTA Competizione. Stage 1 Tuning with 170hp, Akrapovic exhaust systeem. And the bumpers have been facelifted. It has low milage. The MTA is interesting to say the least. But shifting with the paddles will probably make it better, I just need a little practise.

The base 2.0L sounds a bit better imho.. A bit louder and a bit more raw than the 2.5L.. Dunno why though, maybe it's the different turbo and/or just simply the difference in displacement? All these 4-cilinder 718's really do need the PSE though for sure..

I am on the fence if I want to buy a older 6 cylinder 3+ liter boxer Cayman or stretch to buy the much more new 718 Cayman 2 liter or 2,5 liter with 4 cylinder and turbo. I must say I think I actually prefer the sound of the 4 cylinder boxer and it is much more powerful at the low end making it feel faster. But it is 10.000 to 30.000 $€£ more in cost to buy the much more new 718 model .
