Probably the best ever 2m multimode ever made. Though a modified FT221/225 is a good choice too. The speech processor in mine has issues with splatter.. one day I shall fix that....

Just found out about this radio. I need one of these to match my IC-735 HF rig.

Indeed the IC-275 was a rather expensive transceiver. The IC-575 used the same front panel and only covered 26 - 56 MHz in all modes. It too was far more expensive than other radio models with similar capabilities. I always wanted one of these radio's but I wasn't willing to pay the premium price they once commanded. Today they just aren't worth the money considering all the other choices of current model all-band do-everything transceivers on the market that offer far more value than these old Icom's. Still, *IF* you can get one for the right price they are very good radios.

Couldn't agree more. These were way too expensive back in their day and now they aren't worth squat considering all the modern radio's that do far more. People still try getting premium prices for these things but not from me. That said, I still wouldn't mind having one of these but they're just too pricey for what they do.

It has to be said that the modern rigs don't get close performance wise.. but it depends what you want to do.

Sounds like you have a European version (for Region 1), in that part of the world the 70 cm band only covers 430 to 440 MHz. It might be possible to modify the radio for USA (Region 2), by changing a jumper or the like. Check the service manual. Cheers.
