moving on is one thing, but accepting bad people simply for their newly awarded ‘family’ title is another. they might let you be worse off than you started. the idea of acceptance and support doesn’t apply for all people and all cases. my own mum was (is) a venomous snake, but at least she was hella expensive. dad settled for cheap pork after the divorce. while i was still in contact, she sat her ass down and did nothing, and when she was finally told to do something, she lashed out at my dad (who worked like a horse and had to do chores since she didn’t). not to mention she somehow manipulated my dad into kicking his own father out of the house, among countless other things. (poor grandfather was just missing my cobra mum at that point) anyone out here who got stuff like this, you do not have to forgive / accept any member of your family, blood or not, for hurting you. perpetual forgiveness is not required. it’s sickening to have to forgive the same asshole every damn time. apologies for the rant. just needed to say so. stay safe, take care, much love.

People need to understand when a parent passes away you depend solely on the living parent which is your “Rock.” Children become afraid that someone is taking their rock away and they are trying to replace the deceased parent be it a man or woman. Children grieve for a extremely long time. You need to explain you want to be their friend and your not trying to be their parent and you want them to be a family and be happy. I can kind of relate to this as my mom divorced my real dad back in 1987, and then she met this man where she worked at the time. I had a difficult time getting along with him at first and there had been times when we butted heads and whatnot, but deep inside he cared for me very much. They got married in 1993 and had been together until he passed away in early December of 2021 due to cancer. Neither my mom or myself have completely gotten over this, and I still think about him and the good times he and I had together, and what he had done for me that helped me become the man that I am today.
