Cool stuff! I really want a golf cart now to tinker with.

Aren’t you meant to put the cable through the hoop of the clamp meter not in the jaws as it measures the field
@j3ffro7737 ай бұрын
The wire goes through the meter clamp, it's not actually supposed to clamp on the wire. The wire gives off an emf or electromagnetic field that the clamp picks up when the wire passes through the clamp when it's closed.

I'm glad to see you installing individual 12 volt batteries instead of the expensive golf cart version. How has it been working so far? I just ordered 4 batteries for my 48 volt cart. They were much cheaper than I thought they'd be. $560 including tax & shipping on eBay. I ordered a monitor with a 500 amp shunt to see how much juice is them. Also had to get a lithium charger. Looks like it'll be about $750 total. Sure beats $1750 for the golf cart battery. 👍👍

Great video. I just got an older ezgo for my mom, the batteries are shot and these batteries are what I'm looking at. The single large battery wont fit with how the throttle bar runs so I was looking at the 3 battery set up. I'll have her zipping around the community in no time

Awesome video! I hate to bug ya, but could you go into detail as how you Wired the buck converter? Im confused with it, my ezgo txt has and On and Off switch for my lights but i see viewers stating it must be connected to the key switch, can i not simply connect it to my On/Off switch to the lights? Thanks a bunch

When isn’t it windy over there?

Nice. You might have done slightly better with a single 36v as a bms would keep all cells in balance. Now you have three batteries, and one may start to drift.

The lower amps is probably to the higher voltage. There’s less voltage sag with lithium ion.

What kind of charger setup is used?

Is that how you’re supposed to use a DC clamp on meter? Clamp it on the wire? I’m asking because I don’t know I know with AC clamp it around the wire so that it acts like a CT. I have a DC clamp on meter but I’ve never tried out the DC side. I did notice that there’s a plus and minus side but wasn’t sure what it was for.

My understanding is that the Hall-Effect sensor is ranged differently on the tip and when measuring less than 60 amps to use the tip. However, now that you bring it up, I don't know if it's true or where I read that.

In the automotive field, the current clamp goes around the wire, not clamped on to the wire.

the big thing is they last a very long time making them cheaper in the long run plus half the weight and ready for the 110 volt inverter for a go any were power

Was lower amps driving with new batteries because you have less resistance with new cables, batteries and clean terminals. Old batteries has to push more current past the corrosion to operate.

That's kinda what I was thinking

Unless you spend most of your time at full throttle, I would be tempted to replace that resistive dropper with another switched mode (buck converter) voltage reducer to significantly improve efficiency at lower throttle settings.

I have a 36v ezgo it has 6 6v batteries, I ordered 4 12v lithium batteries, what else would I have to upgrade on my cart for it to be able to use all 4 batteries?
@danieldorchester52214 ай бұрын
You can’t. 36v is 3 12v batteries. Option would be to use the 4th battery for your 12 system for stereo or if you run 12v auxiliaries like a sprayer pump.

Your lead acid batteries would’ve lasted a lot longer if you had installed that dc tdc 12v converter with them, not draining two of the set more than the others to power lights and accy’s.

@@missiletm I mean, you're not wrong, but I don't know if I would say "a lot" probably more like "a little"

Also lead acid charging can cause a build up of carbon monoxide. It’s caused families health problems and house decontamination issues. If you have lead acid charge out side or in the back yard. Never in your garage
