LifeSaver® Wayfarer™ - Priming

Before you use your LifeSaver® Wayfarer™ for the first time, it must be primed. The priming process ensures your product will perform at its best. Follow the steps in this video to prepare your Wayfarer™ for your next adventure.

Uh….so the collecting tube does not stay in the bottle of clean water I’m using to prime So the photo in marketing that shows the lady sitting in her tent filtering from one Nalgene to another is misleading. With each upstroke on the lifesaver warfare the tube jumps up, and after 2-3 pumps it jumps out of the Nalgene This is with prefilter on and prefiltwr off This is a fail

Sorry to hear you've had this experience. Most of our Wayfarer users don't seem to have this problem, or at least find the knack to using the hose with their particular bottle. I hope you've been able to find a way to use it successfully with your Nalgene bottle!

Is it ok to store the Wayfarer after priming (with water still inside)?

Thanks for your question! Our general storage advice is this: Before first use, the Wayfarer should be kept in a dry place out of direct sunlight. After first priming, protect your Wayfarer against extreme temperatures. Keep the membranes of the UF Cartridge hydrated by ensuring you do not drain the filter after disconnecting the Scavenger In Hose. Failure to do so will cause the membranes to dry out, and the filtration system to irreversibly shut down. Refresh water in the filter on a regular basis to avoid water stagnating. Always store the Wayfarer in a cool, dry place when not in use, ideally between 5-20°C (41-68°F).
