I worked in Hollywood and everyone knew the music industry was way sleazier than the film and TV industry - which is quite a race to the bottom!! Sexual predators are normalized in rock n roll. Sex sells music is the ethos in the industry. It’s disgusting. Important to talk about this. I have been watching Harry and 1D only for about the last month but right away I was struck by how these boys were constantly sexualized and their privacy invaded. There seemed to be no protection for these boys. It’s alarming and as a society we need to do better. I will not buy 1D music because those who exploited these young men will profit. It’s truly shocking to hear about this-wrong on every level, without question. These young women should have faced accountability for their actions, but was any of this even legal? It seems contracts protected others but left these young boys exposed and unprotected. Regardless of gender or orientation, everyone deserves the chance to understand themselves and grow with the right guidance. Unfortunately, these boys were not given the support to mature into young adults with the right mindset to discern right from wrong. Becoming fathers at such a young age, you have to wonder what these older women were thinking-they knew better. Where was the protection for these boys? And now, some say no one is to blame for these young men’s struggles with mental health, alcohol, and drug abuse. But ignoring the reality only perpetuates the problem. Legal restrictions of sex is kinda gross, to think government gets to tell you what to do with your body. Plenty of people in the US have sex at 15/16 & yet the law says 18… However, this imbalance of power & age difference is awful as well. The fact that they are in a questionable business, isn’t comforting when we start to question these things. Older male celebrities were sexually exploited as children, so it wouldn’t be anything new. Honestly, I think they made Harry play up these relationships to hide his sexuality & give older “forgotten” women publicity, and make them seem desirable. Hopefully it wasn’t anything manipulative, and he was just having fun, but I just don’t find that likely…

When it comes to Liam: I’m not sure about grooming as they did date when he was a legal adult and he was highly interested, but I do think she used him to have a baby. And yeah, maybe she preyed on him when she saw how keen he was. She’d been divorced twice before and she wanted to secure motherhood. It may be harsh but there are many women who do this. But for Harry, it’s devastating to see this happened. If it were the gender roles reversed, the world would be in uproar. Both boys have been screwed with majorly. Isn’t it shocking to hear that young boys were being pursued by women 10 or 11 years older than them? It’s absurd! These were women who should have known better, some even with a history of marriage, now attaching themselves to Harry and Liam. Where was the oversight, the protection for these young artists? Listening to the podcasts where these guys were interviewed, it’s clear they were unprepared to handle such relationships-they were still teenagers facing much older women. Who’s responsible for the anxiety, the depression, or the feeling that they had to go along with things just to keep the peace? The adults around them, including managers, judges, and others, should have had more respect and care for their well-being. Parents, too, should have been able to step in and ensure their teens were treated appropriately. Instead, it seems like all control was left to the entertainment circle around them. When he wasn't really performing his name needed to be in the press all the time so that relationship guaranteed that.
