These do work... Grand father started me doing the football and basketball drill at 5... I'm now 46 and release is effortless.

Great tips for at home practice. To improve my release (and to help build strength since I moved up to 15 lbs), I practice in my living room by tossing the ball into the corner of my couch. It's considerably higher than I normally release, and I have to be careful that a cat doesn't choose that moment to jump in the spot I'm using, but it's effective all the same. 🤣

That's hilarious! I have the same problem. I can't release onto my bed or couch because I will kill a cat. We have many. 😂

Thank you for all these tips. Meet you at the masters, unfortunately didn't have much time to have a conversation due to you getting ready to compete. But i appreciate all the tips you are giving out.

The absolute best advice for any intermediate/advanced bowler regarding equipment is to throw the ball that gives you the most room for error. So glad you mentioned that.

I miss left a lot with my spares so I will try the dumbell in my left hand to see if it keeps my right shoulder square to the lane. Thanks JR.

He I could use a tip on the free arm swing. I’ll try to make myself as clear as possible surely I can swing the ball freely but is there any grip pressure in this process after the push away I feel as if I don’t grab it I’m going to let it fall would you consider that might fit me doing something wrong I’m not sure how that is supposed to feel after the push away

I still see finger and grip strength as essential. People with little finger and grip strength drop the ball behind them on the approach. They also extend the wrist on the backswing and don't have the strength to get back underneath the ball to "spiral" it upon release.

I love how the guy who won the ball was a staffer at a pro shop 😂 already gets his stuff for heavy discount or free
@bijiont9425 жыл бұрын
Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that. I mean congrats to him, just wish it would have gone to someone who isn't getting a discount on their gear.

Can you do a video on targeting? I know it's a basic 101 in bowling but I don't see any that go into detail. For example a down and in bowler may only have 1 mark/target but someone that swings the ball may have a 2 or 3 mark/target such as the dot/arrows and long board. Thanks

I throw a great spiral with a football. Unfortunately, my 14 lb. ball is too heavy to hold and toss like a weightless football. I don’t see how anyone can toss it and keep their hand under the ball. The idea is great but I wish that someone would show a slo-mo video of tossing a bowling ball and producing an underhanded spiral. Maybe there’s something that I’m misunderstanding. Thanks for any help that you can give me.It would be most appreciated. Bob LaRock

@MrMalditor5 жыл бұрын
RIght now my biggest issue is that my backswing migrates behind me right as it start up from the bottom. It drops straight down from my starting position and push away, but as soon as it starts it's way back up it moves about a ball width inside. From the video I took it seems to follow my shoulder angle instead of staying online. Is there a drill or feel that I can work on that will keep the swing on plane instead of following my shoulder turn?
@jayfrancois24535 жыл бұрын
Did you see his video yesterday regarding arm swing corrections? That's a good place to start.
@MrMalditor5 жыл бұрын
@@jayfrancois2453 Yes, I watched it, but my issue isn't that my push away is sending the ball on a bad path. It starts straight as it goes forward and down but moves inside as it starts the path up in the backswing following my shoulder as my torso turns.
@CrazyCatLady5525 жыл бұрын
Find a full length mirror with enough room to perform your approach. Put a piece of colored tape or yarn in a straight line down the mirror, and practice your approach while keeping your swing in line with the tape/yarn. Retrain your muscle memory.

Anyone else try to squeeze the thumb the way he describes and find that you can't hold on to the ball at all? I'm guessing my thumb is too large or maybe the pitch of my thumb makes this more difficult to do?
@Tenpindoctors5 жыл бұрын
yes if you are having trouble holding onto it go watch my video about improving feel and where to put tape to help with this. if you still have issues then you need to get your grip looked at by your proshop
