As a 6'3" man who had plenty of relationship options prior to a 26 year comitted marriage until I was widowed. And now having completed a long successful career with a fortune 500 company. And finally turning 60, and retiring to a life of financial independence and international travel with a beautiful Russian woman 15 years younger than myself. I can say unequivocally, that I am not one. Nor have I ever met or known one. My belief is that the archetype of the American alpha male solely lives in the minds of insecure men. And also behind prison walls 😉

I've seen this sort of male all my life, and according to alleged statistics, they're 25%, or more, of the population. I think one of the myths that bring these sort of men out, is the fact of the societal view of leadership. IOW, you have to yell a lot, or at least talk people to death to be in charge. I did it the sigma way instead, despite not knowing of any such thing at the time, and it worked far better than I would've thought, even though, unlike the typical alpha, I didn't want to lead. I have a rather deep understanding of the sigma, but not so much the alpha. If videos on each are any good for this sort of evaluation, it is true for alpha videos that is true for sigma ones, and that is that very often emphasis is on drama, therefore, virtually no man is as pure alpha or pure sigma as the videos pretend they are. I think you could say there's quite a lot of variety within a type, and indeed I have had lots of times I've thought that sigma's, and probably alpha's too for that matter, should have sub-groups, just due to there being so many traits, there's just no way all that fits into any one guy.

Question 1, No. I have met overconfident people in my line of work aka doctors or CEOs but they don’t get their own way. If anything people push back against them. 2, Again no, they are charming to try and get their own way BUT once others are around they ignore the people that help them so usually these “alphas” move around a lot. Once bridges are burnt their performance drops so they move on. However, in the days of linked in these sociopaths always put a positive spin on their next “challenge” and leave the wreckage behind them.

Except my experience as well - it’s interesting that so many people idolize these types and yet they don’t exist. Or if they do, nobody seems to enjoy being around them. Thanks for sharing! 😊🙏🏻

I would say there are several misconceptions and exaggerations that have evolved about this concept of 'alpha male'. #1. The alpha wolf is the leader of the pack. He helps the pack to get food. So I wouldn't bother with Andrew Tate as the posterboy of 'alpha male' because he made his fortune via exploitation of weak men. #2. The alpha wolf is not a 'lone hunter' as he hunts with the pack. So again, using Tate only makes a strawman for your mythification of the 'alpha male' concept. Like I stated earlier, I think there's been too many misconceptions and exaggerations concerning the concept of 'alpha male'. Betas are not necessarily bad, but this culture uses the term derogatorily. Betas are usually competent wolves that follow the alpha and can replace the alpha if needs be. In all your research on 'alpha male', the gist should have become obvious; it's about men being men- that is taking charge of their life and the people they take care of. It's about earning the respect that comes with being a leader, protector and provider over your family.

I agree.. Alphas are leaders and protectors. There are plenty of fake 'Alphas' out there
