Ahaha this video made my day! It reminded me of one time I felt awful about my behaviour. I had been waiting to confess with my spiritual director after mass when a guy who had been standing in a shady corner next to the church's door the whole time got into the confessional before me. He remained there for something like 40 minutes and I was really upset sitting in my pew. At one point I hear him weeping. I felt like a cruel idiot. When he came out he got straight out of the church, and my director came up to me with dreamy eyes. I told him I had been waiting for him but he was barely looking at me, he was clearly touched and said "Today is six months that I became a priest". For some reason he reminded me of that Bible verse about the bridegroom gloriously coming out of his nuptial tent. I never complained again, not even in my mind, about anybody taking "too much" time to confess.
im having my first next Sunday... I was a little nervous but this made me feel better! Thanks and God bless you all!

I laughed out loud at the printing the specific heresy/you really are resourceful aren’t you?! bit I have a story to share: I made my Spiritual Father laugh in Confession once because I was too honest. I confessed that I was struggling with Charity and forgiveness towards my Dad’s Wife. I said “I’m really trying to overcome this but every time I think of her I still want to set her on fire. I wasn’t joking I actual did feel that much malice. He belly-laughed. I kept a stoney look and said I wasn’t joking. He apologised, and we carried on. Still probably one of my favourite Confession moments. I’ve reconciled with her now praise God

The reason i wasn't able to go to church is because I have a picky family and they only go to the churches they think is good. Then I moved again and now i am close to a church and go there every sunday. I have been going to church for a while now and not once gone to confession. i forgot what the confessional looks like and i don't know the preist so i am not very comfortable about confessing me sins. I went to confession in Rome, under the dome of St. Peter's. That day there was a confessional with a sign "English" on it. My list of sins was pretty ho-hum, nothing to brag about. When I was done the priest said, "I want you to promise me something. I want you to go to Mass every Sunday for the rest of your life." I said "WHAT? That's a ridiculous penance. I should get a few Our Fathers and maybe a rosary. That would be more appropriate." Finally the priest calmed down and agreed that he had overstepped his position.

The Bible says that Jesus told the apostles who's ever since they forgive are forgiven. The apostles repeat this when they lay their hands and appoint presbyters. So why did Jesus give the apostles ability forgive sins?
@arvid_music Жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, actually we do it like the bible teaches. Here are some examples: James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. John 20:21-23: Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” Complimentary also these verses: Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

YannLovesJesus As soon as Jesus rose from the dead and earned salvation for us, he brought his apostles a new gift. After speaking peace to them, he said, “As the Father has sent me, even so I send you” (John 20:21). Just as Jesus was sent by the Father to reconcile the world to God, Jesus sent the apostles to continue his mission. Jesus then breathed on the apostles. This is a verse that is often passed over, but it has extraordinary significance because it is only the second time in all of Scripture where God breathes on anyone. The other instance was at the moment of creation, when God breathed his own life into the nostrils of Adam. This should tell us that something of great importance is taking place. Upon doing this, Jesus said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained” (John 20:22-23). Notice that Jesus is not simply commissioning the apostles to preach about God’s forgiveness. He is not saying, “Go tell everyone that when God forgives men’s sins, they’re forgiven.” In using the second person plural you, Jesus is telling his apostles that by the power of the Holy Spirit he has given them the power to forgive and retain the sins of men. Having the power to forgive and to retain sins implies that the apostle knows what a person’s sins are, which in turn implies oral confession. Otherwise, how is the apostle to know what to retain or forgive?
