I so respect and admire this man. He is a man who not only sings about his faith, but he lives it for everyone to see. I think God sends special people along to be a help and encouragement to others and I think he has done that with Steven. God Bless him and his whole family.

I liked being able to hear his story. I've looked up to the Chapman family since I met Stevens brother. He was my art teacher in Tennessee and brought in his newly adopted child from China and showed us pictures of both of their children and it inspired me to try adopting an Asian child and when my youngest daughter died, Stevens song helped me through. My life has truly been changed by this amazing family.

I’m so sorry for all of you who have lost a child. My heart is broken for you all. We lost our son 3 weeks ago from a heroin overdose. He was in recovery for almost 8 months and doing really well. He was 22 years old. He was a Christian trying to put his life back together and all it took was one time and he overdosed. I can’t look at a picture of him or even listen to a song without crying. Our hearts are crushed. Only Jesus can put us back together. Christ is the one carrying us through this. Even as I text this I’m in tears. I really believe it is the worst thing that could happen to parents is the loss of a child. You will all be in my prayers tonight. I love you and God Bless you

God bless you all! Losing a child can be devastating! I lost my son 20 years ago. Daniel was only 7 years old, with a body ravished with leukemia. He lost the battle, but he went into the light, where there is no more pain and suffering. Daniel won another kind of battle, and is now in the arms of our Lord Jesus. Amen!

Steven Curtis Chapman is one of the first Christian artists I fell in love with. His music is empowering. His faith is unyielding. His passion is outstanding. I can’t imagine the pain of losing his daughter but the way that he reacts to it gives me a sense of hope if that makes sense. Because we will see those we’ve lost again someday. If you guys haven’t seen Steven Curtis Chapman’s 25th anniversary video of his song “The Great Adventure” you need to go see it. His passion for God is so evident. He sings with Bart Millard from MercyMe. Now there is an amazing combination. God Bless you Mr. Chapman!

I am tears watching this. My wife and I lost our 4 1/2 month-old grand-daughter on January 23rd due to accidental suffocation in her sleep. Our family is devastated over this unthinkable loss and our hearts are torn in two. If not for our strong faith, which has been tested, we would not make it. Our family has been big fans of Steven Curtis Chapman and his music for over twenty years and it helps strengthen and encourage us. God Bless SCC and his family.

We just lost our adult son on November 25, 2020. He died suddenly in his car. He pulled the car over and reclined back and passed away. We are still waiting on autopsy results. We buried our son and we are all grieving greatly. We go through so many emotions and feel like some days are impossible to get through...but trusting in the Lord for strength.

Catlady.......I am so sorry you lost your son so quickly. The pain just doesn't go away it seems. We buried my 29 year old grandson 3 years ago. He found life was just too much to bear. And he took his life. So tragic and so final. The emptiness can eat you alive. So does guilt that I should have seen it and didnt help him. The whole family feels the grief differently. I pray God gives you grace and comfort. Bless you and your family. 🕊🕊🕊

When a child dies, all your dreams and hopes for that child's future dies with him/her. I lost my awesome wonderful handsome, 9yr old Martin exactly 3yrs ago. I still wake up hoping it is a bad dream, and Martin is going to walk into my bedroom telling me the sweet stories he was fond of. It was in a circumstance similar to Chapman's, but for my case it was me driving. Only God saw us come through that tragedy. It still hurts

These words helped me in the loss of my son; Remember, your child was never really yours, he was with God before he was with you. The Lord loaned this awesome person to be a light in your life and the lives of those around you. When God called him back - he had to go. So that you could understand when Jesus returned to the Father, he goes to make a place for you.~💕 You have the hope through Christ of being with your loved one again.~🙏🏼💕✝️

I have long admired and been tremendously blessed by SCC and his gift. His faith is so real. I wish I could meet him. I just spent over an hour sobbing in my amazing wife's arms over the weight on me, as a daddy to my disabled daughter. I have been blaming myself for her disability....the enemy is beating on me more relentlessly than he ever has. I need to remember that we WILL prevail because we have already won, when our Lord defeated the devil at Calvary.

If you let grief consume you, and even more so, become you, then you can never be happy again. He has found peace in The Lord, and strength within The Lord. God helped Him to turn the pain, into peace, so that he could continue his life, and his journey, worshipping The Lord. Because that's the goal, to be able to worship The Lord for all enternity, and Maria, is able to live that life now, and one day, we'll all be able to. It's a powerful and beautiful message. James and Betty, and Steven, your show and your music helped so many years....wow...what a testimony about Maria...also, I have watched your show, sndhow you've made it thru after your girl passed from cancer, this year my son too, died at 38 years old, from fentynal....I found a testimony py phone he had forwarded a email in jan2020,. He purchased a king David's REAL MUSIC HARP for Mr,he tuned it, he said he wanted me to learn as he loved guitars for years, and then we could play together....I don't think that was random. He did not kill himself.the dad and Stepmom to my knowledge most likely took life support off him, didn't tell me....my son suffered so much , I miss him so much....I hope his testimony was how he really felt....the death of s child very traumatic.he was taken to hospital on may 1, died on may 6....I found out on July 20th...Santander did all the could to add trauma, but JESUS IS MY ROCK,, And I'm believing my son is in heaven....I'm sthrethened by serin you all run to JESUS CHRIST....

This in some small way kind of brings a little bit of comfort to me because last month I lost my little brother to a heroin overdose and before that he had spent 7 years in prison he'd been to prison three times one time was for 13 months and then the second time was for four years and then the third time was for 7 years and he had struggled with addiction from the time he was 14 years old and my mom she had also struggled with addiction she passed away from an overdose in 2011 when my little brother was doing his second stint in prison the day after she died my little brother got upset and he promised that he would never touch drugs again that he would be good and stay out of trouble shortly after getting out for his second time he goes back to prison for a third time breaking and entering and domestic battery and everything that he did because he was on drugs. This last time when he got out he tried so hard to do good but then things shut down and he met this girl and she was on heroin and she got him to using it and before we knew it he was back into the pitfalls of addiction we just didn't know how bad it was until he died that was he got out of prison on February 4th and he died on May 21st of this year people have told me that they believe that he is with God because he had a relationship with God and I hope that he is with God that he did have a relationship with God. I suspected that he was using drugs again but I couldn't prove it so I didn't say anything to my dad but I wish so much that I had because living with the guilt of not telling my dad it's so hard both me and my older brother feel that way because we both suspected that he was using again and we wish that the people who knew that my younger brother I was using drugs again would have came to us and said something but they didn't and because nobody said anything we had to lose him and then bury him the day before Father's Day my brother left behind children a 14 year old son and a 11 year old little girl and because nobody said anything my dad had to bury his son and my niece and nephew had to bury their dad the day before Father's Day. but the one thing that I hope is that my brother really did have a relationship with God that he really did know God and I just pray that he is in the father's house. That's the only thing that I can hope for. because the unfortunate thing is that the police can't do anything to his girlfriend to get a murder conviction because my brother's death has been ruled an accidental overdose when I really feel that she should be charged with murder for giving him heroin forgetting him hooked on it I really feel that the dealers should be charged with murder whenever somebody dies of an overdose. and I wish I didn't have this guilt inside of me the only thing I know is then I got to do something to make things right so that no one else has to go through what I went through. God's plan is that we love him even when tragedy strikes. Most of the apostles and early Christians were persecuted and suffered for Christ. I dont know anyone that believes God inflicts tragedy but he does allow it. He allows it because death is the consequence of sin. We are forgiven of sin through Christ, but the consequences of sin still exist in this life and will until we reach Heaven.God's plan is that we trust him in midst of tragedy so that he is glorified and our faith is strengthened.

God does have a plan... tragedy is a result of sin. God allows us to choose, and many times good comes from those choices, and sadly bad can come as well. Bless SCC and his family...great guy, and family!!

People say that God has a plan and when tragedy strikes that it must be "God's plan." I do not EVER EVER want to believe that! I think God cries with us when tragedy strikes, and it is never His PLAN to inflict sadness or tragedy on anyone. Just my two cents.

John 11 .. the story of Lazarus ... what did Jesus do when he arrived, and Lazarus was already dead ... Jesus wept. (John 11,35) There we have our Lord and Savior, this is HOW he feels about our lost ones. God's plan is a plan of life, a plan of love, the plan of resurrection and the redemption, the life on a new earth and new heaven in presence with him.

I know exactly how you feel, which is why I can't accept the Christian doctrine of Hell. You could say, "It's a hell of a doctrine" . . . the idea that a God of love inflicts unbearable suffering on billions of people for all eternity. Maybe there has to be hell for truly evil people like Hitler, Stalin, and the Chinese governing regime, and some in the current American 'regime' also. There are people in positions of power and influence who do terrible evil, harming millions, and they do it knowingly. For them Hell has to exist, but surely not for ordinary people who are just struggling to get through life, day by day. Such a deity would be far far worse than Hitler, Stalin, and all the other evil rulers put together. So you can believe in Hell fire and damnation, if it helps you sleep at night, but it's not for me! Jesus death at Calvary is sufficient for all, apart from those who deliberately and knowingly reject it ~ they know he died so that they can be forgiven and yet they reject Him ~ that's a sin which can't be forgiven. All other sins can and will be forgiven. That's good enough for me!

Hi Bruce, i read your comment and wanted to bring some insight to the table. First off i want you to know that God does love you and He does care. You should now already know this because of your experience. The reason why God spoke to you is because He wants to adopt you as His son to inherit all that He is and all that He has. look up at the sky at night, have you ever wondered of what all there is that is out there? God is infinite and He is capable of doing exceedingly and abundantly more so than what we could ever ask or think of. One thing to know: God created you for the purpose of Him making known His awesome power, love and authority to all creation, so that everyone who sees and hears His power, love and authority through you may bow the knee to Him and give Him all praise, honor and worship. He wants to do this work in you and through you because he longs to share Himself and to join Himself to you, to us, to mankind. this is why He created man. However, man has been separated from God, why? because we sinned against Him, against the One we were to be betrothed to Forever. Sin is lawlessness, and God is completely lawful. God desires you to be like Him so that you can reflect His Glory, His power and nature. After all, a son is only the reflection of his father. and if someone claims that God is there Father, then they should reflect His love, truth, hope and character; but if they do not then they are a liar and the truth is not in them, they are the son of another father, the devil. the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy; but God came to give us life more abundantly. Who is this God? well our sin as separated us from Him so there is no possible way that we can get to Him on our own accord. He would have to be the One to initiate a way, a bridge for us to get back to Him, to make peace with Him. peace literally means, "to be made One again". So in the law of God when a man wanted to be accepted by God and have His sins removed, He would have to go to the priest with an animal chosen by God as 'clean', the priest would have him lay his hand on the animal (sheep, bull, etc), and the man's sins would be transferred over to the animal, the animal would then be killed for his sins, thus, blood was shed for that man's sins. Because there is no clearing away of sins without the shedding of blood, and the wages of sin is death. when you sin it separates you from God, who is life. you then enter into death because you have been separated from God. and if you die with sin on your hands, you will be separated from God, who is Life, forever. apart from God is darkness, pain and fear. in God is peace, love , light and life, and joy. in the Bible it says that "it was not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away our sins." the sinful root in us that causes us to sin still dwells in us and in fact has dominion over us, we cannot help but sin, we are slaves of sin, of corruption. But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us sent His Word, who is in fact God, to us. (book of John ch1) The Bible tells us that God is in fact three different persons. The Spirit of God, The Word of God (the redeemer), and God the Father. He is called The Father, because every spirit ever made, initially came from Him, but He is only the Father of all Just spirits. God the Father spoke His Word into the womb of a virgin woman over 2000 years ago, and sent His angel to her, telling her that she would conceive a Son without ever having known a man. in fact God spoke to His prophets beforehand for hundreds of years earlier, telling of how He Himself would manifest Himself in the flesh througb a virgin woman, for the purpose of Himself paying the eternal price for our sins, death. yes, God the Word, the Lord of Hosts, (Isaiah 44:6-8) would die in your place for your sins by shedding His blood. why? because it takes the untainted blood of God Himself to cleanse you of your sin, but since God does not have blood because He is Spirit (John 4:24) He had to come to us in the flesh and lead a sinless life and be offered as a sin offering for our sins. God told the virgin woman, Mary, to call His name Yeshua, translated "Salvation", in english, Jesus. He came to His own people, the Jews, the people He Himself gave His law to, and they rejected His message, and were offended at His Words, because He claimed to be God ( John 10:22-39). He raised the dead to life and healed all sick people and fed them, He manifested His love to them, yet the chief priests condemned Him to death by crucifixion, and they nailed Him to a cross, through His hands and feet, he was on that cross for hours, when He neared the end He cried out with a loud voice to the Father, " Father forgive them for they do not not what they are doing!" and My God, o my God! why have you forsaken Me? ( psalm 22). " into your hands i commit my spirit." and you know what Bruce? suffered the wrath of God for you, (Isaiah 53) " He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree(cross)" on that cross He toom upon Himself all our sin, all that has been commited, and will be commited, and He died in your place. Three literal days later, He, Jesus the Christ was physically raised from the dead by God the Father by the power of the Spirit of God. (Luke ch23 and ch 24) He appeared to those who believed Him, that He was and is and is to come, the Son of God. He was declared to be the Son of God by His bodily resurrection from the dead according to the Spirit of Holiness. ( Romans ch1). (Acts ch1) That we might have eternal life by faith in Jesus Christ being justified by His un-earned kindness which He demonstrated on the cross for us. He is alive, and after His resurection, He ascended into Heaven and is at the right hand of God the Father, interceding on your behalf, that you may know Him and the power of His resurrection. if you want to be free from sin and death, All you need to do is believe in your heart that God has raised Christ Jesus from the dead, confess with your mouth that He is now the Lord of your life, meaning: you no longer seek to do what you want, but what God wants. We should no longer live this life in our flesh for our own desires, or man's desire, but for what God desires, by obeying His Word and following His commands, for following His commands is everlasting life. you must also turn away from your sins, the word is 'repent', it means to change your direction, to change your mind about rejecting God's authority and now accept His authority. God legally owns you and every person and thing in existence. He created you so that He could share His life and adventurous mysterious secrets with you. Now that Jesus the Christ, The Word of God has come and has broken down the wall that separated us from God, by His blood in His death and resurection, we now have the oppurtunity to be joined in a marital relationship with God the Father, a spiritual union with life itself. Just right now wherever you are, make Him the Lord of your life, because He is Literally Alive! and has a great plan for you. "all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved" It is a long term commitment, and this is more serious than marriage between a man and a woman, because it lasts forever, and God is a God of eternal commitment and faithfulness. Turn to Him and trust Him with your life. He loves you, say to Jesus, " I am yours, Save Me." Psalm 119.

it rains on the just and the unjust alike but if you are saying that tragedy happens because ultimately man kind fell in the beginning then yes your right about that but to say that he was sinning and that was why the little girl died is wrong if that was what you were saying if not sorry...
