An eyeglass repair kit! First day of our most recent cruise, a screw came loose on my husbands glasses. Fortunately it didn’t fall out, but there were no repair kits for sale and no tiny screwdriver to be found anywhere onboard (even maintenance didn’t have a tiny screwdriver)! He managed to tighten it a bit using my cuticle tool. First port of call, we found a sundry shop that sold those little repair kits, thank goodness! This could have been a major disaster had he lost the screw because he wouldn’t have been able to see anything as his glasses are bifocals. Lesson learned - eyeglass repair kit is now on our “must take” packing list regardless of where or how we are traveling. 🤓

One thing we wished we had on our last cruise was a disposable, medium size plastic food container, like the ones some lunch meats are packaged in. I save them for using on the boat or at the beach. They are great to pack a few snacks from the buffet to take to your cabin, or even to snack on on your shore excursion. We can throw a couple pieces of whole fruit in our tote bag, but a container for some croissants or cookies would've been nice. I'm definitely bringing one or two on the next cruise. You can pack stuff inside, so they take up no room in your luggage.

I just want to send a big Thank You to Ilana! I learned so many things that made our trip on NCL Dawn even more enjoyable. I think the best tip was to buy and bring items for the crew since they have little time on shore to shop. I brought Dollarama and Costco items and tried to focus on the "forgotten ones" that work long hard jobs around the ship. The gang on our section, morning , noon, and night, cleanimg or prepping the rooms were shocked when i gave a large box of Feirra Rochas to them to share. And seeing one lone female in this bunch I gave her a bunch of hair, dental stuff that she could share with her friends. She was so shocked saying no-one had ever given her anything before! And I gave another goodie bag to one of the kitchen ladies. I only wish i had more and spent more time looking for other groups. I gave stewards and bar guys the US dollars and loose change from other trips and euros to the buffet crews. Coins from countries we won't revisit can be used or traded by the crew on future cruises.

Love the tips, have used most of them. Cruised a lot and one tip that I want to SHARE is SAFETY PINS. When going on the excursions you are given a sticker for your blouse, jacket and it often slides off. Just pin the sticker on and it won't curl or slide off. Lots of other people have commented to us that they wish they had pins to. I generally just carry medium size safety pins and leave it in my case with my passport. I sometimes have more than I need in case I loose one and I have given them out to others as well. I won't cruise without them.

Hi Ilana, I always bring tweezers and scissors on my trips. I will store them in a cosmetic bag. I too went to the dollar store and stocked up on toothrushes! Such a great deal! Love your tips! Thanks.

I am usually just a lurker on all channels, however, i had to comment because i am pretty sure you were at the dollar trees in my area. I live in Northern NY right off the border. So happy we have Canadians coming back to shop in our area again. If you like message me and ill give you my town name.

Sewing kits can be hard to find. I found mine at the checkout. Not all checkouts will have them so you have to look. Flip flops are a must. And now everything is $1.25, still great deals!

I purchased the travel size lotion, shampoo and conditioner at Walmart and just keep refilling them. No leakage ever.

I love your hair straight! Going on my first cruise in 2 weeks!! So excited and so thankful for your tips. I booked my cruise on Celebrity 6 months in advance, received $150.00 per person (2) in cruise credit which I applied to excursions, upgrade dinner nights and spa... spending no extra money. All inclusive: food, drinks and tips. However, having been in the service industry, I will tip more for great service! LOVE the thank you card idea!!!!

Was NOT what I was expecting... my first excursion was canceled. I was charged for my "upgrades" for restaurants when I already paid ahead of time. TOO MANY trips down to Guest Services when I booked everything over 4 months in advance to make sure it would be an enjoyable cruise. My massage left me with bruises for 2 weeks once I got home. (Took a picture the same day as "massage.") Was denied the drink package until I went to guest services and PROVED I had it already set up over 4 months ago. Was told I had free wifi but my phone company charged me $200. Supposed to be all set up before departure but NOTHING was what I signed an agreement for. False advertising and lies... And since my cruise from July, not ONE person has called me back. Booked flights through Celebrity, flight was canceled half way home and Celebrity did NOTHING!!!

I like to bring a small sewing repair kit in case a button pops off or something gets snagged. Usually the kits are at the register

Both your video and the comments very helpful for ideas of what's needed. I don't think you need to bring shampoo/conditioner as the ship provides that in your showers. I suggest everal sandwich sized and couple of gallon sized zip lock bags. Great for putting wet bathing suits in. I also put my 2-week pill caddy in one and wrap large rubber bands around them so the pills don't pop out. Good protection for things like passport that you don't want to get wet. I also put any containers of lotion, sun screen, etc. in them in case the container comes open so it doesn't get all over everything! Poo-pouri is a godsend!!

I've bought many of the things mentioned in the video, as well as rubber flip flops to use as as slippers, shower shoes and/or to wear at the pool or beach; satin pillow cases (I always travel with my own as I have sensitive skin); snacks (they typically have quite a few name brand options); promotional sized packages of laundry soap and zippered mesh laundry bags for delicates.

Thank you! I forgot where I got the laundry soap that I sent with my friend on her first cruise. Hopefully they still have it now that I want to go on my cruise in a week and a half! 😊
