Giant cat adopts new kitten as his own! (So Cute!!)

The video you have all been waiting for! We wanted to give Milo and Kodi time to adjust to one another as cats can take a while to trust one another and I'll be honest at first I was worried if we had made the right decision. Kodi desperately wanted to be friends with Milo but it took Milo a minute to calm to him. And now just a few weeks later you can't take Kodi away from Milo, he is constantly playing, grooming or sleeping next to him. Its so sweet I wish we had got Milo a brother years ago.
For those wondering Milo is a Maine Coon crossed with a Ragamuffin whereas Kodi is a pedigree Maine Coon. We pick the Maine Coon breed as they are known for being the most 'dog like' cat in terms of personality and being good around dogs. They are also pretty big by cat sizes.

She did right to not separate them. These are teachable moments for Kodi and a way for Milo to get close to the new kitten. Unless Kodi was screaming and fur was flying, don't intervene. This was clearly playtime. So lovely to watch.

Milo is a good boy! He was brought up right by his parents! I love, love, love introducing a new rescue to my clutch of furbabies. All my cats are really cool and watching them interact with each other is better than 90% of what's on TV! Good on Ya'

I have three cats, two girls and a boy! You are right you have to let then learn, and only jump in when absolutely necessary. When I had the boy I introduced him slowly, the one girl was like Milo is but the other one took to him straight away. Now the other one is now OK, although I think she just tolerates him. Milo's inner monologue........ probably, "Commander's log. Catlus V has sought fit to send a me a raw recruit to help further along my mission of world domination. Cadet Kodi, as he is called, was a bit more energetic at first than I anticipated. Our commonalities were not so.... common until after the first few weeks. After that I had to get him into an intense regime of training invovling grooming, excercise, and learning surprise attacks. Young Kodi has come along quickly and has even now been known to hold his own against the larger furrier species of the planet in the house. With time I have great faith we will be able to strike a great victory for feline kind!" 😂😂😂😂

Hissing is a normal response to being unfamiliar and uncomfortable for cats. It's best to introduce a new cat's smell via an object they sleep on, or play with, so the current cat becomes familiar with the new scent.

I have worked in cat resuce for along time. You’re doing great with their introductions - I didn’t see anything that brought me concern. My cats who are all bonded littermates go at it like that regularly - cats will play super rough - probably rougher than most realize. the only time I will ever stop it with my three is when there’s obvious signs of aggression that may cause harm to one of them. They eventually sort it out themselves most of the time

I think you did a great job. I agree they need to figure things out. With all of my personal cat's and fosters, I let them work it out and only get involved if I hear a sound coming out of them. Then I just clap loudly. Now this doesn't always work, some cat's do need a slower, controlled intro, but that's up to the guardians to figure out.

Milo acts ferocious around the 3 Amigos, but when he's around another cat he's a complete wimp. Thankfully he's warmed up to Kodi now and he can teach him the tricks of the trade (including how to torment Teddy). But that headlocking business makes me nervous with Kodi being as small as he is right now.

Just a helpful hint. When introducing new pets to one's you already have, you can take cooking vanilla and rub it down both thier backs. That way they smell alike, and doesn't hurt them when they lick it off their fur
