Wow a Great and determined gal, I did some work on my 2006 Pacifica and removed the Right and Left tail light bulbs. That lower one has a metalic nut with a flange on it. Barley got mine off as rust was starting to set in. I'll ad this little trick to your arsenal of tactics on your vehicles if you don't already know it. Napa part # PTX 7651983 Anti Seize Lubricant. Its smaller than a toothpaste tube about $5.00 these days. EVERYTIME I remove a metal bolt or nut I put that stuff in the threads with a cotton swab. It will Never rust again as long as that car will last. Best trick I ever learned.

Use a screwdriver and use both hands. You have to find the latch by looking close. Then situate the screwdriver at the proper leverage point against the latch. Hold screwdriver in place with right hand most forwards toward the front of the handle and keep a little pressure to not move out of place. Take left hand to hold back of screwdriver handle as a leverage point to push the latch with the screwdriver using your right hand. Always keep a dedicated screwdriver for that purpose secure in one of your consoles where you know it will always be. You would have never had to have cut that panel open. Flashlight is handy to spot the latch and place the screwdriver against it🤙

Did you even find the cause of the problem? Was it the liftgate latch, the switch by the license plate, the wiring, the BCM? I did do a small trick with some paracord on that latch running through a hole so it can temporarily be opened by simple pulling the string. I have tried a few latches now to no avail for a more permanent fix. I found some information that said it might be the liftgate switch..the one by the license plate. Apparently that switch goes all the way back to the BCM next to the engine and the BCM gives the command to release your latch by sending a command to the switch. Part 5102338AC for 35 to 40 bucks. I will update if this ends up fixing the problem!

All of my searches and only one obscure website held my solution. Okay guys! So it was in fact the problem and now the latch is working perfectly! Part #MOPAR 5102338AC i.imgur.com/luVDV3j.jpg costs $41 from Rockauto and it's not very difficult to change out. Just take your time, 4 phillips screws by the inside lift handles, pop the assembly down, unhook the light connector, take off the three star screws for the liftgate latch, move out of way, take off two screws (10mm) holding the assembly that houses the liftgate switch, pull off the connector to the switch as well, the switch has four tabs that pop it into the housing, need to push those in to get it to push out of the assembly, pop the new one in, plug its connector in, tighten housing assembly down, install the liftgate latch with the three screws back into place, plug light back in and then just push the plastics back up (pops in with 4 divots (take time and make sure they are lined up), put your 4 phillips screws back in by the inner lift handles and then close it all up! ALL YOU DO IS PUT A FLATHEAD SCREW DRIVER IN THAT HOLE AND YOU WILL FIND THE LATCH OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED AND MOVE IT TO THE LEFT AND IT OPENS.
