Dan is my role model for strength training. Many years ago I watched a video on him about loaded carries and I’ve been sold. All his books and videos and free content is priceless. Wondering weights is priceless. Plus he’s the best dude on the planet. I’ve had the honor of meeting him and having his phone number (he will give it to everybody at any seminar). I was at a perform better seminar and met him and spoke with him. Said that I was going out to eat and having beers with some friends and would he like to come. He did. We talked about training and life and he’s just the best dude and the best mind on training I have ever seen. He also tries and does everything. He isn’t pigeon holed into one way of training. He will try things. He’s also trained people for every sport. I just love the guy.

This conversation is gold from start to finish. Community is key: you rise and fall based on those who you surround yourself with. I played sports but never well. I started working out just to be fit when I was in my late 20’s and was lucky enough to befriend the guy who ran the corporate gym I had available to me. Made massive strides. Now I’m 50 and a small fraction of my peers can keep up with me. I’m working out and spend my time with the dads from church who are in their 30’s and 40’s. And we push and motivate eachother positively. I love it. And don’t pass over good in the search/pursuit for great. Set a schedule and work to stick to it. Again, my peers (late 40’s and early 50’s) roll their eyes at me for working out. But people want their choices to be validated by everyone else. That’s why you have the “delay questions”. Love this segment Juji and Dan!

My husband is 56 and goes to the gym every day. He looks a lot you get and can work circles around the younger guys. Young guys at work ask him how he does it and what he eats to stay looking like he does. He tells them about working out but he doesn't follow a diet. He just doesn't gorge himself.

Loved listening to you guys. The best gym I ever worked out at, I was in construction and remodeling an old building for the Chicago police department. They had the 5th floor was their gym. Old rusty weights and bars on old steel pipe built benches. Had a Woden floor track around the whole floor. The cable machines did not have cables they were ropes and steel pulleys. I was at that building for a year. It was some of the best workouts I have ever experienced! I made up my own compound lifts and super sets. That old dark dusty gym. I loved it

31:45 Do you have a recommendation alternative fish for salmon? Because I would love to be full, but i hate that taste. Will Halibut do the job? Catfish, though I imagine it isn't the same nutritional profile. Anything very light on that "fishy" taste. Hell, i like canned tuna, albacore or not. Will that do the job? not in oil obviously; I think it'd make me sick anyways lol. I swear I have no off switch for satiety, just "I have achieved physical discomfort from being full"

What about the ramp? I think that's implicit in this discussion. In running, you can go from zero to a marathon in 6 months. People have done it in 3 or 4. But it takes 18 months for a normal 30's person to stimulate the stem cells in joints to repair faster than the rate of damage. There has to be something like that in lifting. Building too fast can cause problems in the long run. I meet heavy benchers pretty regularly who are in their 60's and shoulders are shot. That sort of thing.
