It's a good thing in Australia that the NMX 14 motor is more common, as it means more quality lifts; NMX 14 often comes with chassis as standard. Also in Australia I've seen an NMX 11 with a chassis, which was coincidentally an N MonoSpace; maybe that option always has chassis.

@@elevator_satellite You sure? NMX 14 seems to be designed as if it were another entry in the NMX line and also lacks brake clunks just like the rest of the NMXes, though I admit I haven't had a good look at one.
@TheDragonFire123
@TheDragonFire123 3 жыл бұрын
@@elevator_satellite Sure. Maybe it's named that because the N implies a smaller footprint and (N)MX 14 isn't actually smaller than anything. That said, its design is still much closer to NMX than the classic MX with brake clunks, so I will continue to use NMX 14 as a nickname as to not be misleading.

I have a question. There is an ecodisc in a mall near me that has a 3500 lb (1588 kg) capacity and travels about 200 fpm (1 m/s). It sounds like an NMX11 and has no brake clunk. It is definitely MRL since I have looked up the shaft with a flashlight. What model is this, and what motor does it use? Video from another user: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJbEYWpog7WEnLc

@@elevator_satellite Bit high capacity, though, but maybe it was overclocked. (I presume (N)MX 14 takes 1,400 kg at 1 m/s.)

Cool he has a safety fall protection strap great thinking a lot of people die from elevator shaft falls more than 30 feet it is a very serious danger and it's deadly
@benolifts
@benolifts 3 жыл бұрын
I am not being as safe as you may think! It isn't a fall protection strap. It is a static sling. A fall protection system as a dynamic system that catches a fall and uses the stretch of the rope to stop the person falling. Typically these are single use systems that are designed to only be used in a fall and are not used to support weight in general use. They are strictly a backup system only. When what I am doing in this video is attaching myself using a static sling to the hook at the top of the shaft. This is very dangerous as there is no backup system if any of the equipment used was to fail then I would fall. Also I am attaching to an unverified attachment point that I have no idea what its condition is. Also I could swing into the motor. Also static slings can not take the impact of a fall. They can only be used to suspend someone. And one of my static slings had caught a slight fall when someone borrowed it and didn't know how to use it, leaving it in a compromised condition. To put it simply, what I am doing here is very dangerous. The equipment I am using isn't done in a way to back up my safety, instead it is the only thing stopping me from falling, and I am using compromised equipment on an attachment point which isn't verified.

Personally I wouldn't ever trust a hang point like that which has just been dynabolted into concrete. That really is dangerous. If you really are determined to hang from something like that, at least hook it into the chassis of the lift and see if it can support the lift cab weight before you try hanging from it.
@benolifts
@benolifts 3 жыл бұрын
Hooking it onto the chassis is a good idea, but I don't think my abseiling gear would take it. The top hooks can take a lot of weight. This one was 2000kg. They usually have an inspection date when the lift was installed. This one was 4 years ago. I would assume that it is still safe. Look at 2:52
@johnrauner2515
@johnrauner2515 3 жыл бұрын
You should have two independent hang points on to different locations. The main one being what you are hanging from and the second from somewhere else like somewhere on the motor or off a wall bracket, so in the worse case if the main hang point lets go you don't fall to your death. And they should attach to different locations on your harness. Also, what will you do if there is a power failure? Or, if the fire alarms go off and the lift goes into fire service mode and the building is evacuated?

@@johnrauner2515 I was thinking two hanging points too. Placing your life on one hook is high risk.
@benolifts
@benolifts 3 жыл бұрын
I will do that in future. Although I can't see any attachment points on the ecodisc motor. I can't risk my sling getting caught up as the motor spins.
@dykodesigns
@dykodesigns 3 жыл бұрын
The hook is designed to take a lot of weight, typically there is a safety factor on the load and the yield stress of the bolt. The concrete is the weakest link in the chain. I think it is probably a glue/chemical anchor with a resin. I don’t think it is bolted through on the top. Sometimes anchor points in concrete are rebars with a screw fixture. The typical failure mode of these anchors is that a perimeter cone of concrete cracks around anchor. Since this is a suspended ceiling, it will have a reinforcement mesh. Some anchors that are used for hoisting precast elements can handle several thousands of kg, depending on how they are installed in the element. Glue anchors have limitations as they are drilled into the concrete afterwards which means they cannot have additional splice reinforcement to strengthen the connection. If it can handle the load of the motor during the construction phase, it can easily support Ben’s weight as the motor will be much heavier. I would test the bolt first just to be sure.

Swan Nayvous. That's my name. I attend an international school in Japan, and I'm 14 years old. I was born and raised in Japan, but I'm American. I enjoy horses, tennis, tea, and Japanese dance... But I like ballet best of all. I want to be a professional ballerina when I grow up. My mother and father are second and third in charge at the world-famous Nayvous Foundation. They think of Japan as home, but spend their time traveling from one country to the next. That's why everyone thinks I'm some kind of celebrity who can have anything she wants, but... No matter how big a house I live in, or how many brand name clothes I have... Being left on my own, with no parents to come home to, makes me feel pretty empty...
