Man I felt this. I loved lifting, it was me stress relief and also skipped friend stuff. After getting married it feels like a chore now. I miss the love I had for it

I'm grateful I finally found people who understand this same feeling. I loved and lived lifting for 7 years. I was obsessed. But then after I've done everything I've wanted, it felt like a waste of time and that I should do something else. I never wanted to become that sad person who is still scraping at the bottom of the barrel to find some small reason to continue when you don't really even enjoy it anymore. Nothing has come close to how much I loved lifting and there's no new mountain for me to enjoy climbing now. Everyone says on KZbin and friends say, u should still do it nonetheless. But imo those people think like u should still chase the girl who doesn't give a fuck about you. It's time to move on. And I hope u guys find something just as amazing as lifting

I miss the peak time of this YT lifting community, like around 2016 when the channels were all growing. Mike leaving ST on weird terms changed this whole youtube space and crashed it.

Agreed, I noticed 2016 was THE year where all these fitness KZbinrs were growing like crazy. I was watching barbell brigade, Bradley martyn, omar, mark bell, even strength wars lmao.

When I was doing it for weightloss etc.. it did become a chore but since I've started training for strength I've always liked it and when the gyms closed during covid it made me realise how much I actually liked it, it's a part of my life now and always look forward to going

This convo hit home, when I think about times when I had the most fun doing something it was because I was doing it purely for enjoyment. Like staying up till 2 am playing COD with the boys. But now there’s a pressure to “optimize” everything you do, especially on social media.

It feels like being choked every day, to keep maintaining this wheel to run on. And that felt like I was holding onto something desperately and not willing to let go. I've let go cuz it's time to move on but MMA has been garbage so idek what else to do

I feel this. I started lifting at 14 and damn I used to love it. I was passionate about it up until I hit 27. For the past year it has just felt repetitive and dull. It’s hard for me to stay consistent with it. I still keep myself healthy with my diet, and I’ve found other ways to stay active, but I wish I still had that passion for lifting weights.

I really understand both😅,went through both stages,where I was obsessed with lifting and learning all about it and how to improve and now where I mostly plateaued but I keep lifting because I don't want to lose the results(the physique and the level of weights I lift) that took me over a decade to build
@peache8

This is so true, I was the same with the learning part and now I can't stop lifting or my strength numbers will go down and it feels like I would lose all my hard work 😂

This was interesting to watch. Ive gone through periods where i was really excited when i started learning a new lift (OHP), researching, testing everything.. to kind of dreading when it started stalling. Then questioning, what's the point? Especially when i hit 215 in my deadlift at 115 bw, i just didnt care to push for 225. I found the only way for lifting to be sustainable is to not follow any program, and just practice your lifts regularly. On a bad day i do very light weight, on a good day i shoot for a PR.

Yeah it sucks when you hit your late 20s early 30s because you start thinking about how things like pre workout effects your body. There’s always that moderation mindset that stops you from being so into it. Just the fact that excessive muscle protein synthesis just increases aging. Longevity is the goal then.

This is why I never stick to a training style for long. I started lifting to simply get bigger, then after 5 years I switched to only caring about Olympic lifts, then boxing, then running, and now I literally just do whatever I feel like lol

Facts. I competed in two powerlifting meets and got kinda bored of it. Ran a half marathon last year. Don’t know what to do now lol

@@gb_gregg2794 The plus side of me switching up all the time is my home gym now is just absolutely stacked with everything. Anytime I have a friend come work out and they ask if I have this or that, I'm just like trust me bro I got it all haha

I understand you,you know why you stop and pick something else,because if you're natty,in any sport,you tend to plateau in about 2-3 years,it's sad,but it's the truth
