Ashley, you’re a saint! Saint Ashley. You read all these ding dongs in the comments, telling y’all what you’ve done wrong, what you should’ve could’ve done correctly. You never loose your cool on here, you don’t clap back. It’s admirable🙂

I’m not usually interested in car mechanic videos, but I think this was fun. I’m impressed that you just dig in and figure it out. I hope you haven’t invested too much into this car. I think it is a cute car. I appreciate how you, Doug seem so respectful of Ashley’s wishes about her project.

The fact that you share your knowledge with your wife is just awesome. A lot of women love mechanics. My daughter went to school for Aircraft work and is now working for Boeing. I love that you do things together. Its really so nice. Enjoy the process.

In my opinion Doug's smile and the way he looks at Ashley when discussing the car says it all. He loves his wife, he wants to make her happy and he saw joy on her face when she saw the car. Period. Ashley definitely is not a high maintenance lady. The same occurred re the trampoline - Doug enjoys seeing his wife happy. The repartee re Doug working on Ashley's car and smaller gloves was adorable. Such fun banter is important. Sunday car videos are fine with me. I respect your reasoning re not wanting to include bits in various videos, hoping to avoid boring followers. As usual so very thoughtful. Speaking only for myself I cannot imagine any video content you would post that would offend me or bore me. I enjoy hearing your thought process, very smart and informative. It never occurred to me that you would consider just troubleshooting the engine, that is not your style. You peel away layers of each and every house basically insuring you touch pretty much every surface. For you 2 a vehicle is no different. No 'putting lipstick on a pig' when dealing with this family. Admirable work ethics indeed!

This is what I really like about Doug & Ashley. Even though Ashley was really upset on how the car purchase started Doug pretty much let her know that everything will turn out ok and that they will work it out together. Just like the 🚐.

I can't speak for anyone else, but ANYTHING the two of you do I'm going to watch. I LOVE the fact that you did it for Ashley, like the trampoline, the mule, & the pony. And it was great seeing you guys laugh so much in the last episode about the car. The first video of yours that I seen was when you all were still in Kokomo and Doug made over a dresser into a bookshelf. Been a fan since!

I think its awesome. You're not only doing a project, y'all are nurturing your relationship. Some folks do it with superficial date nights, some do it with activities like this that both enjoy doing together. The thing I've always noticed is y'all are sincerely a team in almost everything and it truly brings you both joy. It never seems to be, "oh well we have to cause we're a couple". No false sense of obligation. It's a rare quality in couples now a days and its beautiful to watch, no matter what the project. I love it!

No matter how much you enjoy renovating, you should have other interests too. I love the fact you want to do this together. One man's junk is another man's treasure. And so far, you have taken what other thought was junk and made a treasure. Oh and Ashley, like you want to come organize my house? Why do I say that....because you are keeping track of a the nuts and bolts in marked bags. That tells me you like organization! 😃👍

There is always hope. I would love to watch car videos. My late husband and late son both were mechanics who died early (42 years old, Husband; 41 years old, Son) and I miss having someone in the garage working, the smell of oil and gas and the fun of a finished job. So I look forward to this. Best to both of you. Get those hands greasy!!! LOL

Doug and Ashley, don't give those people another thought. Do what's best for you and your family, always. In the years I have been watching your videos, those words have never even entered into my mind. With every DIY project you've done, I too, look at them and think, with some hard work and elbow grease, this or that can be transformed into a thing of beauty and ya'll make it happen, everytime. Especially, with Ashley having fabulous taste in decorating and Doug being able to create wonderful designs, I believe there's nothing y'all can't do, one you get started. Your whole family is blessed with being very talented and it's a trait I've never had. Best of luck with your project car Ashley!! I can't wait to see what happens next, because girl, you know I have to watch this segment too. LOL!! Much Love and Hugs to you and your wonderful amazing family.

You guys made the right diagnosis. Coolant leaked into the intake manifold. Assuming the rest of the car is solid ( no structural corrosion) I would replace that engine with a rebuilt or used one. In the long run it will be more cost effective. Good luck with the project!

Basically fixer-upper cars and houses were mostly all we could ever afford, so when something needs fixed, we have to do it ourselves since paying someone else wasn't an option. So it's just learning by doing over many years, and we're still learning all the time.
