Thanks for the review. I have a 2014 Sony XBR65X850B. I’ve been looking at a new TV for quite a while and had my heart set on an A95L. I was going to get the A95L because I loved my 9 yo Sony XBR. However after doing my calculation of how much out the door (TV + warranty, tax, pro mounting) the 65” C3 is $2284.25 less than the 65” A95L. That’s kind of an absurd amount of money and then you factor in how great the C3 is plus all the features (4 x 2.1 HDMI) it’s like whoa. Sure in absolute terms the A95L is better but it’s so marginal then when you calculate how much more it costs; I’m now strongly considering the C3. Thanks again for the comparison.

It definitely seems like it’s overpriced given everything you’ve shown with it! Your latest C1 settings to match it have just blown my mind! My 76-year-old aunt came to visit today and she said, did you get a new TV? The colors are crazy?! And that’s coming from someone who’s been rocking your settings with this TV from the beginning! You’re the best man! I did leave you a couple of questions on those if you have time to check them out. I will always appreciate everything you do for us!

This review was one of the only ones who was honest about the biggest disadvantage of the A95L, the completely outrageous price. As good as the visual acuity and features of this TV are, the price makes it a no go for most people. The A80L performs about 90% as well as the A95L but is half the price.

the color red is better buy definitely not wthe price jump I currently am replacing my c1 via best buy protection plan for dead pixels what do u recommend I game and watch tv ao I like good upscaling I was thinking s90c what's your opinion

All of this makes sense. Maybe buy a refurb/opened/sale item…I got my Kuro at a discounted price back in the day and I still have it. The top Sony TVs have always appealed to me because it seems they have the best upscaler of 720p/1080i content - which is 90% of what I watch. Since we cut the cord, maybe the quality of my “signals” have gone up, but the song remains the same.

I have to say, you are seriously correct in a thousand ways. I was in the situation where my 77 A80j burned in. Had gotten a full refund and the TV was junked out I gave it to some dear friends. So I was like, ok let’s do the dance let’s get the bad mamma jamma. I must say, I watch all kinds of stuff, even stuff like gunsmoke and the Virginian, old shit. I’m kinda old, but besides that. For the first time of owning Oled since 2015, this is the first time I’ve ever seen these shows upscaled to the level I didn’t expect possible. The upscailing ability with the insane clearness has blown my mind. Now I’m talking about the 77 inch model, I don’t know about the smaller models. But for something I invested 3GS into after the refund and I bought the 5 year warranty I sit in awe. But, these videos are necessary also. If you have the money and you are into the best upgrades I’ve seen in the whole time of Oled then the A95L is all about it. I wish it was 3D. I love all Oled. Good video though and you make valid arguments. 👍👍

Take a look at the strawberry, on sony you can see the details of the object better. The color was close to real on Sony compared to LG. I have an LG ZX, but Sony has it.

A95k from 2022 is still 800Euro (920USD) more than the LG G3 (2023) of the same size here in germany

I’m referring to Australian prices here which are even more fucked (that’s a whole other story) but anyway, I decided to pick up an S90C on the weekend. What’s crazy is that it was about $1000 cheaper than a same-sized C3 and A80L, $2000 cheaper than the G3, and THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS cheaper than the A95L. At this point I couldn’t care less if it’s slightly inferior. The money I saved is ridiculous, and essentially allows me to throw in, say, a PS5 and maybe a nice pair of headphones too… and still come out on top. If it wasn’t for you and a few others like you, I would have completely looked past the S90C for the more prestigious names. Cheers bro!

For me, I need the best processing. We each have our preferences and for me, colors on a lot of tvs are really good now. Brightness is finally good. But there is so much lowbitrate content on streaming apps that I feel like processing is my main thing.

yeah the price is insane and I hear that you’re paying for the better picture processing as well but aaahhh.. 3200 dollars thats alot of dough 😬☹️. I have abandoned Hisense 65” and I think my best bet would be the 65 inch LG C3 🤔 this memorial day sale. I am hoping to find a good deal.

After following your channel I've come to realise that a lot of people tend to judge these TVs based on how they look out of the box. Only someone with your skillset can reveal a TVs true underlying potential and give a more objective judgement. I think a lot of people don't want to independently scrutise things these days, it's just easier for them to be told what the "best" product is.

You can purchase a Samsung S95c 77 if you have triple A or know someone for 2699.00 Sony A95L the King of tv’s for is only 4999.00 could not find it any where for lower price. No brainer for me. And I’ll save 2300.00

It’s literally an economic law. Diminishing returns. It’s every item that I consider for my modest home theater, that I take this law into account. You can get 95% of performance for a fraction of the price to get the final 5%. But, that’s why companies spend millions of dollars for every second of advertising. Because it works. Sony is swindling people…

Great review and comparison. Do you have plans for the g3? I haven't seen you respond to any of those comments. It's okay if you don't. We cannot expect you to buy every high end tv and spend all that time testing it. I appreciate the insight and the multiple videos. It is great to see the C1 perform like this. I 100% thought I would get a Sony 77" A95L before it came out. Then after seeing how it performed, looking at the comparisons, and seeing them in store, I decided against it. I am likely going for the G3 if a killer deal comes out. Otherwise I'll wait and see what the G4 looks like with its processing improvements.

I am replacing my very old 40 inch Samsung TV with Sony A95L 77 inch size (huge upgrade) Watched several comparison videos and I just do not like LG colors as much as I like Samsungs and Sonys. I went to two different stores to compare TVs with my own eyes and Sony A95L delivered best colors and contrast (in my honest opinion) Sony looked also way more "3D" than Samsung did. LG was fine but like i said i just do not like their colors. Something off putting in them. Reds look too orange and some scenes were too green or blue. Kinda like orange and teal look in certain scenes which I do not like. I agree that Sony A95L is too expensive but if the price was equal between S95C, G3 and A95L, I would still pick A95L because I liked its picture the most. Audio side I don't mind since I have external amplifier and high end speakers + woofer to suit my audio needs. I got 3 years warranty for free, some streaming services and 500 euros discount when I ordered mine. Had a few Sony products before this (mp3 player and a camera) and they have all worked flawlessly during all these years. I like your honest review.

It sounds like you're finished with the A95L. If you're looking for ideas for another project: As far as LCD TVs are concerned, I think a side-by-side comparison between the Hisense U8K, Sony X90L, and TCL QM8 would be fair considering their similar prices. There are people who wouldn't go back to a Hisense U8K nor TCL QM8 once they exchanged either one for a Sony X90L. This led me to choose the Sony X90L for my first 4K UHD TV.

Hey quantum, I got the X90l a few days ago and was honestly disappointed. Colors were washed, SDR was league's better than HDR. Would love to see your opinion, but from my experience, I was really disappointed "fist sony tv purchase" But not surprised after seeing your x90k review.

It is the same in hi end audio... spending a lot more money gets you small improvement. Small but very real. As for this comparison having seen them both personally i don't think they look that similar at all. The Sony really is much better when both are maxed out. I guess the price difference vs value comes down to what you think is important.

Finale review??? So your final review is a set of images. Even so, difference is night and day...Sony is the winner and it's not close. Not sure why you're not playing movies or tv shows from streaming services and comparing those. At 3:22 and 9:19, same image looks like trash on the right compared to tv on the left.
