While obviously high as heck for IPF standards, he could still likely hit 1,000 pounds in sleeves, which is still extremely rare. We'll see if he hits a strictly officiated meet if he can get healthy. This sport may never be respected until all sanctioning bodies have uniform standards. We surely remember the days when multi-ply "world record" squats were high ridiculously high (but that was the standard for those sanctioning bodies). FYI: I was a national USPF referee back in the 80s and 90s, but left the sport once the APF allowed ridiculous 3" high squats.

Correct me if i'm wrong but in (some?) powerlifting federations your bones must be aligned horizontally with the floor, so no deeper than that is needed. So why would you go any deeper? If there is something I've learned, it is that you NEVER come back stronger after an injury. If he is this strong now, he'll always be weaker afterwards. A broken bone doesn't heal stronger, a tendon doesn't heal tougher. It's just how the body is. It would be different if he wasn't at his very peak of performance and strength. IE a skinny person has a back injury and after rehab starts working out can come back stronger because they were never strong to begin with. But the back will always be less than it was, the part that was hurt.

@@LA-km5ju Well I started lifting this year again, and quickly went up from 1 rep 80kg to 170kg all new pb. I failed at 110, at 135 etc. Ok, maybe not 10 times but you get the idea. And yes, it's much safer than only relying on spotters. I spot my friend all the time even in the power rack tho. The point is that the weight's not gonna fall on your neck, of course, there's still risk, but these can't be fixed by spotters (exploding knees, muscle tears etc.)

@@Menthix oh right I see lol But it isn't 100% safe like you made out, something can always go wrong, however a rack is always safer than no rack, whenever I do a squat PB I use a rack, safety bars, have a component spotter and know what to do if I fail, still scares me though.

@@LA-km5ju Yea, that's what I meant. You can see squatting accidents where a safety bar could've been carrier saving.

People forget the kind of weight they are dealing with. Lifting without spotters, safety rails, or even clamps on the bar to prevent the plates from just sliding off. Ridiculous.

The real problem is the corner set up. If he wasn’t in the corner he would have been able to safety ditch regardless of weight. People play too many games with trying to do world class level lifts in sub-optimal lifting setups. It’s like a pro basketball player trying to play on a messed up street ball court. Why run the risk

Far from me to judge a strong ass monster like this one, but that is a half squat, not a Squat. Let's be clear in our terms here. You wanna see a really strong guy do an actual squat? Watch ed Cohen

Moving a lot of weight for sure. Again I understand camera angles but I don’t believe any of those squats were near legal depth.

I think for such immense weight they should be using monolift. It would be very taxing to take that weight off a standard rack prior to the squat. I didn't see what his injury was but I hope he is okay.

Lifting that kids of weight man needs to invest in better safety measures such as straps of chains not a silly little rack held down by a plate 🤦🏻‍♂️ hats off to the spotters tho would of been a different story if the wall wasn’t there to hold them all up
