I'm a bit confused here. Which era is this video from? Clearly 80s or very early 90s. How does he go from being able to squat 500+ for 20+ in the video with Hatfield and Kaz to this? Is this him clean/off steroids for a long time? Hell of a strength loss, if so. Even going from this 315x25 to the purported 405x50 is a massive jump. Not critiqing Tom at all, I just think it's important for us to be asking this stuff as iron historians. His best 20-rep+ squat is going on twice this weight!

He treated me and everyone with respect, kindness, professionalism. I couldn’t have been more impressed. Every interaction with him or question I asked was met with a gentleman’s care. Not once did he brag about himself or share his prowess, accolades, or how great he is. He wore a shirt and tie. Never a show off even at the gym as he instructed us. That was an incredible set of squats! Tom was always the king of squats and legs. Just amazing. I would never question him on squats and leg development, but I would have one question. @@danilojanicijevic1658 I agree. Also, he said due to his thick hamstrings and big calves it cushioned the "bounce". But, not something I recommend for most watching that video. That was in a powerlifting suit with wraps and there was some doubt about whether the plates were real or not. Reason being, the WBF (a Vince McMahon outfit) was promoting the event (Platz vs Fred Hatfield) and they tended to throw in the odd fake plate to make it seem more impressive.
