Ligeti Concerti Tier List

For me, the chamber concerto is S-tier and the piano concerto is A tier. I'm surprised to hear that you're not a fan of the piano etudes. Ligeti is one of my favorite composers for piano, his usage of the piano's register is just mind-blowing. I'm very fond of his etudes.

The chamber concerto has become S-tier to me recently, can’t stop listening to it! The piano etudes and concerto I think are objectively great pieces, but I just don’t enjoy listening to them as much compared to his other pieces (im also biased against piano music as a pianist lol)

As a huge Ligeti fan, I mostly agree with this list, maybe I'll make my own Ligeti list sometime. I love the Hamburg Concerto so much, microtonality is fun! I'm also seeing the Violin Concerto with Kopatchinskaja live on Saturday, I hope you get a chance to hear them live too.

@@Scriabin_fan It was the most unforgettable concert in my life! That was way more than just a normal classical concert, you have to experience something like that at least once in your life.

Oliver Knussen's Horn Concerto is excellent! An incredible composer, extremely underrated

Ah yes the Knussen! I listened to a recording once before, must listen again. Need to listen to more of him in general, one listen to O hototogisu and I was hooked

@@zgart I agree - O Hototogisu is a wonderful piece! BTW, since the main point of the video is not suggesting horn concertos but the video itself, I wanted to say that I wholeheartedly agree with your list and I love this kinda content!

@@zgart Ahahahahah alas, as much as I love Knussen I'd have to agree! Even though they're vastly different in aesthetics, language and sound, I'd say the Hamburg Concerto is so unique and refined it cannot be beat
