It’s a real episode and the episode is basically just Spongebob going insane thinking he’s the only one left on the planet and he turns to acting out scenarios with himself to keep himself sane. It’s wild as hell.

Spongebob's likeability in-universe is the most inconsistent part of the show tbh. Compare episodes like Ripped Pants, where everyone quickly gets tired of him making the same joke repeatedly, to Squirrel Jokes, where everyone except Sandy loves his jokes throughout the episode, and get tired only when he becomes self-conscious
