The LEDs flicker @ 60/second. Way better one$ flicker @ 120/sec. That drives some people nuts. Also, they ALL produce Ultra Violet light. Which is just past the blue light spectrum. The blue light screws with our meletonan production which can really screw up sleep for many people.. The UV light can be very bad for your retinas and the rest of you. Doing some research on this can help make a better informed decision. *** disclaimer*** I eat meat. I don't mind cutting down trees. I use RoundUp when necessary. I even swap out light switches with the power on. I'm in no way a "health nut". Those guys are ok if they just don't preach ;)

While they may have Mercury in them, the average Mercury emissions (based on an 8000 hour running time) of CFLs are about 1.8 Mg; 1.2 being emitted from power source or plant and 0.6 being from landfilling. Where Incandescent bulbs average around 5.8 Mg, which consists totally of power plant emissions.

+Carlos Torres 2600K is the low yellow/orange light. 5000K or higher is the bright white/blue light. Also go by how many lumens they have. More lumens = more light no matter what the light spectrum. Do what I do. Mix one 2600k and one 5000k and it mixes to produce a very realistic daylight.

I was wondering if you are still using any of the bulbs that you have reviewed in this video I first invested in LED bulbs around 2014 when they were around roughly $8 each (subsidized) I only have a few of my original bulbs left and from what I remember that the life expectancy was supposed to be 22 years at 3 hours a days use (as long as they weren't used in enclosed fixtures) I had some die at less than a years use (mostly Cree and Utilitech bulbs) Philips seems to be the best haven't had one die yet!

I want white light from my bulbs not yellow, and i want them bright except right by my bed and i still dont want it to cast a yellow shade. The reasoning behind the terms "warm light" and "cool light" is based on the color spectrum not on the actual temperature in Kelvin. The lower Kelvin lights give off a yellowish color which is associated with warm colors in color theory. While higher Kelvin lights give off more of a bluish color which is associated with cool/cold colors in color theory.

Any decor ideas please (it's a rental so I don't want to change too much, even battery operated lamps and lights might be a good idea). I lost all confidence in regulatory and testing agencies as soon as novelty tricks like running a damn light from your cell phone became the compelling focus of the industry. 5000K is supposed to be 'whiter' but is really a cold, sterile light like old cheap Cool White fluorescents. Color rendering is more than temperature, and CRI is not even accurate for critical uses like art studios or galleries. All lumens are not equal, either, as we perceive wavelengths different than energy meters do. Lifetime LEDs may only be guaranteed for 3- 5 years? At least the waste isn't as toxic or problematic as CFLs, the biggest fraud of the 'green industry' so far.
@z15228 жыл бұрын
The high initial cost when they first appeared, followed by the 25-50% early failure rate I experienced, made them easily more expensive and less dependable. Then, we soon learned of the nasty toxic waste from each one, the shifting spectral curve over the bulb's life, etc. Now, incidentally, I fear a repeat of this pattern in LEDs - just got the letter recalling all the nice Cree 4 foot led 'full spectrum' bulbs I got last year for the entire garage/studio space, warning that they just might burn the place down. But self-driving cars and planes are a real good idea....
