Yeah but what is better for certain environments? Does the led emit blue lighting that cause problems with sleep when placed in bedrooms? Does the led help reduce bacterial growth maybe for bathrooms or kitchen, entrance to house?

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I cant stress how much I hate seeing daylight white bulbs in people's homes at night. Totally not cozy or relaxing. Daylight bluish white is for functional purposes, like kitchen counters or project areas like the garage. Warm yellows are for lamps and light fixtures that make a room feel cozy and relaxing.

The LEDs flicker @ 60/second. Way better one$ flicker @ 120/sec. That drives some people nuts. Also, they ALL produce Ultra Violet light. Which is just past the blue light spectrum. The blue light screws with our meletonan production which can really screw up sleep for many people.. The UV light can be very bad for your retinas and the rest of you. Doing some research on this can help make a better informed decision. *** disclaimer*** I eat meat. I don't mind cutting down trees. I use RoundUp when necessary. I even swap out light switches with the power on. I'm in no way a "health nut". Those guys are ok if they just don't preach ;)

Easy way to understand kelvin When a metal is slightly warmed up it emits warm colour(red) If its heated up at higher temperatute the light becomes yellow (less warm than red) and on welders where the temperature of the arc is really high the colour emited is cool white to blue

While they may have Mercury in them, the average Mercury emissions (based on an 8000 hour running time) of CFLs are about 1.8 Mg; 1.2 being emitted from power source or plant and 0.6 being from landfilling. Where Incandescent bulbs average around 5.8 Mg, which consists totally of power plant emissions.

Y'all have fun with your wifi. I am trying to get rid of it but my neighbors each have a 4g and a 5g antennae on their modems and now it all comes into my house I can see on my electrosmart app which really pisses me off when I am suffering health problems and can hear white noise 24/7 from about 40 different wifi modems and probably smart meters and about 11 different towers. I'm so excited about this.

I'm always confused about the warm to cool brighter tones .. I figured "soft white" is the warmest, "daylight" is the next cooler, and that there's a 3rd even brighter the "bright white". my deal is why is "bright white" so hard to find? what do I gotta look for choosing the coolest brightest light? I can't deal with this dim yellow hue.

+Carlos Torres 2600K is the low yellow/orange light. 5000K or higher is the bright white/blue light. Also go by how many lumens they have. More lumens = more light no matter what the light spectrum. Do what I do. Mix one 2600k and one 5000k and it mixes to produce a very realistic daylight.

K is the temperature measured in kelvin. As you might know any object that is heated will eventually emit light. The lowest being red all the way to white. That is why flames are red/orange and stars are bright and white.

I was wondering if you are still using any of the bulbs that you have reviewed in this video I first invested in LED bulbs around 2014 when they were around roughly $8 each (subsidized) I only have a few of my original bulbs left and from what I remember that the life expectancy was supposed to be 22 years at 3 hours a days use (as long as they weren't used in enclosed fixtures) I had some die at less than a years use (mostly Cree and Utilitech bulbs) Philips seems to be the best haven't had one die yet!

I have almost no sunlight coming into my room and especially now that winter's coming (so there's even less light) I realize how much I hate that, so I really need a sunlight-imitating light bulb that at the same time doesn't cost much energy so I can keep it on for a long time without worrying about the cost. This video was already pretty helpful! If someone has some recommendations for me, I'd greatly appreciate that! I'm thinking about getting a smart bulb but I'm not sure if that's the right choice.

You cant get any plainer than this, a child could understand. I want white light from my bulbs not yellow, and i want them bright except right by my bed and i still dont want it to cast a yellow shade. So, high lumens for brightness and on color (yellow or white) temp go high number also or "cool" for a white light. Thank you so much.

The reasoning behind the terms "warm light" and "cool light" is based on the color spectrum not on the actual temperature in Kelvin. The lower Kelvin lights give off a yellowish color which is associated with warm colors in color theory. While higher Kelvin lights give off more of a bluish color which is associated with cool/cold colors in color theory.

My new place has very fluorescent LED (bright white almost blue cicrler ceiling) lights. They make everything look nice and white/bright/clean, when you see people (in person and in photos) it creates harsh lighting/shadow and it doesn't look good. I am looking for a way to balance the lights to look more warm/natural and to defuse it to make it softer. Any decor ideas please (it's a rental so I don't want to change too much, even battery operated lamps and lights might be a good idea). Thanks. :) PS any tips on the settings on iphones to take nicer portrats and selphies? Thanks.

I just want a very low lumen bulb (lower than the lowest you can find) Why does everything have to be bright?? I have sensitive eyes and just want a warm yellow light that is pretty dim I don’t have dimmable lights switches and that just seems like a lot of work, is it too much to ask to by a light that isn’t so bright? Like they go out of their way to make the best and brightest performing bulbs the highest of technologies...you’d think I could get one that basically functions like a broken or dying bulb because it produces less light....

I lost all confidence in regulatory and testing agencies as soon as novelty tricks like running a damn light from your cell phone became the compelling focus of the industry. 5000K is supposed to be 'whiter' but is really a cold, sterile light like old cheap Cool White fluorescents. Color rendering is more than temperature, and CRI is not even accurate for critical uses like art studios or galleries. All lumens are not equal, either, as we perceive wavelengths different than energy meters do. Lifetime LEDs may only be guaranteed for 3- 5 years? At least the waste isn't as toxic or problematic as CFLs, the biggest fraud of the 'green industry' so far.

The high initial cost when they first appeared, followed by the 25-50% early failure rate I experienced, made them easily more expensive and less dependable. Then, we soon learned of the nasty toxic waste from each one, the shifting spectral curve over the bulb's life, etc. Now, incidentally, I fear a repeat of this pattern in LEDs - just got the letter recalling all the nice Cree 4 foot led 'full spectrum' bulbs I got last year for the entire garage/studio space, warning that they just might burn the place down. But self-driving cars and planes are a real good idea....

Are there any good full spectrum bulbs anymore? The ones we used to use (GE Reveal 75 color enhanced full spectrum flood) are not made anymore. We are on our very last ones, and I have not been able to find LED floods with a similar warm glow.
