Directed mode should work to get this, it only disables side EEs and other dark ops can be done in directed mode. I do expect that they will patch unlocks in directed mode soon but atm I don’t see why directed mode wouldn’t work for this too.

Just completed this on directed mode with the mangler HVT -- Get the ASG fully PAPed with legendary rarity. Buy a new GS45 off the wall and DO NOT upgrade anything on it. Put Napalm Burst on both guns. Summon the HVT and get its health down to 10-15%. Kill off the zombies but keep 5-6 alive. now try positioning HVT and the remaining zombies together and fire off the pistols to trigger ammo mod. when a regular zombie gets lit up and the HVT is standing right next to it, he will also get lit (the window is really small) as soon as you see the HVT on fire, swap to ASG and kill it off. I just did this 11 times (accidentally killed the HVT in one of the rounds) and the card popped up. hope this helps!

napalm burst does have to proc on the elite btw, they have addressed this. it won't count as an actual napalm elite kill if not

I’ve been using extension instead of incendiary, because that seems to ignite elites more for me. Even so, trying to ignite the HVT manglers is not working for me in many of my matches.

I just did this method and it works ,i didn’t have “napalm elite zombie kill” pop up once.only “elite zombie kill” while he was on fire counted 10 times and i got it to pop in 20mins

It does work in Directed mode but you cannot directly set the HVT on fire, you need to ignite those next to it. Take HVT down to about a 1/4 health then use a shotgun with napalm equipped as per video then shoot the zombies near hvt till he sets on fire, then switch to pistols and finish off.

i spent hours on this one doing it blindly. One trick that got it to proc was getting the mangler to chase, having a sizeable horde near the both of us and just spamming a low rarity weapon with napalm near the feet of the mangler/zombies. Keeping the distance as close as possible so that if napalm were to proc, the mangler gets caught and switch to a high rarity primary to finish the job. Use aether shroud if your scared of how close you are to the zombies, but proximity is essential to getting the napalm onto the mangler from a normal zombie.

@@issamdajani1603 i got tired of training and decided to just run into them until it procs. The mangler stops and melees and the zombies can catch up. There is no aat timing in this game so forcing the issue is just faster.

Pretty good video. You can set the Elites on fire too and it counts but it takes longer to trigger the napalm burst. Also, it doesn't have to say Napalm Burst Elite Kill for it to count. In my run, I only got two. The other eight still counted. If you're struggling with ammo or how long it takes to get their health down, shoot the mangler's cannon or at least one of the abominations heads. They act like armor that once it breaks, it gets easier to burn the health.

Another good tip is if you use your last Mangler cannon shot on the valve and immediately after you shoot it, interact to start turning the valve and you will cancel the animation and bring up your gun and be able to shoot while completing the valve step. You can't walk but you can swivel and use any equipment/special.

I would also suggest for terminus the cursed talisman Easter egg, as there are 3 elite manglers for that as well, could help if you don’t wanna go all the way to round 40-50

The part that sucks is that there isn’t any SPECIFIC title for when you get the kill you’re looking for… like we’d expect it to say “Napalm Burst Elite Zombie Kill” …straight and to the point… Not an entire list of everything … Elite zombie kill - 500points napalm burst zombie killx2 - 180 points Enemies ignited X 3 - 15 points Ya know? It makes you wander if it’s actually counting the Elite… well wish me luck.. I’m going for it

for your whole step about if you get a abomination, to absorb it. you can skip this entirely. if you save and quit after killing the hvt, reloading the run will potentially change the hvt. Had many runs for nebula shredding manglers then leaving for work to come back and have to fight abominations 😂

Doing it in directed will cap you at round 15 while u work ur way up to 10 elite napalm kills.Pack a punch tanto 2-3 times and upgrade gun rarity.Get the elite zombie to half health then kill 3/4 horde with upgraded LR (optional) to make it easier to control the crowd and use tanto to set zombie on fire AND to kill elite zombie you’ll have more than enough time and i didnt have chill berry either

This challenge sucked. I didn’t keep trying to kill the mangler with my gun because I didn’t know if it would track or not. So when I did it I got the mangler one shot and tried to trigger napalm and having that kill him

I used an Arc-XD ontop of the Marine-SP wall buy then used Aether Shroud, bought a chopper Gunner. Double points gobblegum probably helps

A tip for the mangler cannon, to guarantee that you can open the door to the radioshack you can bait a mangler into shooting it open for you

Pointless buying the mangler cannon, waste of salvage, im pretty sure its coded to drop everytine from first mangler now, but if not you can just take the mangler to the door stand infront of it and let him shoot you then slide out of the way, mangler opens the door for you, you save 1250 salvage

I just did it on standard , my weapon choice was the second sniper SVD , which becames a SHOTGUN with long range bullet output, I have to say that sniper it's pretty broken, just follow what the guy in the video says 😊

Update: 17/12/24 It still works in Directed mode, and trust me it is WAY easier to do it that way. I used the ASG (purple & pap2) & the tanto (base) with Napalm on both [Big game & Incendiary augments]. Having the round capped at 15 and being able to rinse and repeat super quick makes the challenge much more doable + being able to get elemental pop straight away with the citrus focus augment helps a bunch. Once at round 15 & the portal activated, kill a bunch of zombies until there’s like 20ish left to make it easier to train, then legit just circle around them with the mangler HVT in the middle and aim for the zombies next to the mangler (with tanto). Soon as the mangler catches fire, switch guns & spray him with the ASG. I had tried doing it in standard and I ended up in the late 30s struggling to even kill one HVT (and for some reason they just wouldn’t light on fire).

for the free mangler cannon i think if you shoot his shoulder instead of the cannon it will drop it allways. If you shoot the cannon there is a chance you will just break it

Directed mode works even better as the round cap is 15 at this point, as long as you don’t progress with the easter egg and catch their essence in the canister. So you stay in round 15 all the time and the Zombies don’t get harder / faster / more. After you killed the HVT and all Zombies, the round „reloads“ and you can spawn the HVT again or just go on and kill Zombies over and over again. You farm a lot of essence and scrap. If you get an abomination, just save the game and reload until you get the Mangler again. As long as you’re in the same game, the Mangler will always spawn. I created a save game this way that I keep all the time which makes daily challenges much easier as well as the camo grind.

Pro tip. Use fire bombe and decoys. If the mangler shot trow a decoy next to him and kill some zombies cuz u use fire bomb it spread out easy to him. With this combe 1h done. PS to kill him use Gs45 and select directed mode 😊
