Experiment:
1.Take a potted plant having green leaves and place it in a completely dark place for about 48 hours to destarch its leaves.
During photosynthesis plants form starch in the leaves. Destarching a plant involves preventing photosynthesis, usually by keeping the plant in the dark for 24 to 48 hours until the starch is used by the plant for their food and energy.
2. Take a thin strip of black paper and wrap it on one leaf on both the sides so that sunlight may not reach it from both the sides.
3. Cover the leaf partially so that the remaining part of the leaf remains exposed to sunlight.
4. Keep this potted plant with partially covered leaf in bright sunlight for a few hours.
5. After few hours pluck the partially covered leaf from the plant and remove the black paper.
6. Put the leaf in boiling water for a few minutes.
7. Now boil the leaf in alcohol over a water bath. In this way, we get a decolourised leaf due to removal of chlorophyll.
8. Wash the decolourised leaf with water to remove any alcohol present.
9. Put the leaf on a white paper and pour iodine solution over the leaf and observe any change in colour.
10. The middle part of leaf which was covered with black paper does not turn blue-black on adding iodine solution showing that no starch is present in the middle part of the leaf.
This is because sunlight could not reach the covered part of the leaf due to which the leaf could not do photosynthesis to produce starch.
11. The uncovered part of leaf which was exposed to sunlight turns blue-black on adding iodine solution showing that starch is present in this part of leaf.
This means that the part of leaf which was exposed to sunlight could do photosynthesis to produce starch.
We conclude that sunlight is necessary for photosynthesis to produce food like starch.

​@@janine_.Don't worry. I will try to explain in simple words. This is for the commenter too cuz u don't understand. First of all it is obvi okayy to not understand. There is a reason this video was createdm for people who don't understand msans it is normal so dw. now listen. First of all just take a random plant. Of ur choice. Taken?Noice. Now keep it in a dark room for 1-2 days. Why???I will tell you. See when plants so photosynthesis they store extra glucose(their food) for such conditions where they cannot make food. Now they store it in form of ''starch''. Starch is basically a complex carbohydrate. Okay? Clear till here?now we need to eat food na. Suppose I do not give you food for 2 days straight. Won't you get hungryy??yes u will. So would plants. And if it doesn't have food it will DIE. So it will use all of that stores starch. After that??After that we will keep it in sunlight and provide all the conditions (light , water and carbon dioxide). But there is a twist. We will take a Black strip. Okay?Now we will cover a part of a leaf with that. Now see , will it get water??Yes. Will it get aur(CO2)??Yes. But will the black strip part get sunlight???Noooo. It will not. Now it will not make foodd in that part. So will there be any extra glucose??not at all. So no starch??Ya not starch!!But what about the uncovered part??It will have starch cuz it can prepare food.Right??So now see starch has a property. That if I add ''IODINE SOLUTION '' to something containing it. Its color will become ''blue-black''. I love the colours blue and black btw. Do you?anyways, getting back to the topic , Yk na that what do leaves have??? Chlorophyll!!!!And it gives what color to leaf??GREEN!!!. So tell me one thing, if I add iodine solution to green leaf. Then obviously it will turn blue -black but isn't the green color gonna cover the blue -black part??Yes it will. such an attention seeker , ugh. Now, getting back to topic , we will remove it from the leaf.WHATttt??Howw??I will tell honey. So we will put the leaf in HoT boiling water. Whyyy???I will tell. See plant cells have an outer structure which is called ''Cell wall "". Now it loves the cells. It won't let this stupid iodine solution enter. So we will request it to let it come. So that you can understand!!How will we do that??We will BOIL it. Then it will soften. Because it gets happy after drinking water. I alsoove water btw. It is my fav. Drink. Now , what will happen is ki we still have to remove green color. That our ALCOHOL will do. Now green color is removed .
