I just fired my stove up last night for the first time! Sarah was cold 🥶, stay tuned for the video! I love that you sift out the charcoal… I’ve thought about doing it but never knew if it would make all that much of a difference in starting. Instead I give all my ash to my friend for his chickens… When cleaning mine out I often leave a little pile of coals in the center for this exact reason! I have a little propane torch with a neck on it as well I use it to light my big green egg and stove, what a game changer!
@TonysCoolTools

Hi Jake, sounds like you got frost on the pumpkins as well. I find the charcoal from the OWB is perfect size about a quarter to half dollar size and it lights so easy. Since I only use true firewood and not pallets or construction lumber in the OWB I’ve use the charcoal for cooking and blacksmithing as well. As people say it’s an incredible byproduct we produce. We’ve come a long way from starting a fire with a Bic lighter. Those 1lb propane torches are incredible and make starting a fire a breeze even for a newbie. As usual thanks for watching. Hope to see you and Sarah in a couple days at PB

Great and informative video Tony. I like the concept of letting the pump run all year. Air handlers and motors/fans I suggest running while in a/c use. No cool then clammy temp changed in certain areas of a house. Nominal cost to run the motor without a measurable temperature difference. Love the extension for the cigarette lighter also. Better than Zippo.😄👍

After firewood, I like wood boilers, wood stoves, and wood furnace videos. So, you have been hitting the target with your videos. Great creativity and content! The germans (who dont like wood smoke pollution and particulate pollution) are gonna love you. Your Heatmaster boiler looks like a nice unit. Good luck with it. Good work. PS: A former neighbor had the biggest wood boiler I've seen (Heatmor). On super cold days, it took 1/2 full cord in the morning, and another 1/2 full cord at night. As an experiment, he threw a dead deer carcass in there. The next morning, only the teeth remained.

All newspaper in Canada and the rest of North America has contained only soya-based colour dyes for many years. I did not think these were harmful to air quality since they are not harmful to traditional composting methods. I think there are several much better options for lighting fires (especially using a propane torch) which reduce fly-ash release, am I wrong in assuming they might be OK for lighting fires in wood-stoves, boilers, and furnaces?

@rodneysweetnam8653
@rodneysweetnam8653 2 жыл бұрын
Hi 123- its Big Rodders in Ireland. I used to run my circulating pump 365 days a year - it lasted me 28 years in various systems before requiring replacement. I understand that contaminants are attracted to the impellar when the water is stationary, making it more likely to cause problems when restarting it.
@TonysCoolTools
@TonysCoolTools 2 жыл бұрын
Yes this year I left it run, I don’t know if it will help but my thoughts are any sediment in the system is always flowing and doesn’t settle down and start corroding the OWB. I’ll be talking to my installer about this as well to get his suggestions. Thanks for watching 👍

Tony, what’s the life expectancy on the ceramic nozzle? A major concern with theses lower water capacity owbs is cold water return protection. To cold and it thermally shocks the steel (304 stainless is extremely susceptible) causing stress corrosion cracking. How most European boilers operate is just like a car engine. Engine heats water in block (boiler) until thermostat is hot enough opening allowing water to flow to radiator ( home, water, out bldgs. Etc.) Garns don’t have any of these concerns. It’s amazes me how environmental conscious and next level engineering Europeans are but, somehow ain’t smart enough to figure out how to be energy independent. Their like look at us we are investing trillions in renewables. Then Russia shuts off the NG spigot and in a matter of days complete panic🥴🤷‍♂️. Am I the only one asking where has that trillions in self sustaining renewables investing went??
@TonysCoolTools
@TonysCoolTools 2 жыл бұрын
I’ll have to ask my installer how long the ceramic nozzles are supposed to last. Once the government gets involved everything goes up for grabs! Thanks for watching 👍
