I make cedar kindling 1" or less with my supersplit super fast. U can split toothpick kindling efficiently, a whole facecord at once if u wanted . Smoker wood and chunks take no time. I fill ibcs with my smoker wood chunks. Apple, hickory, oak, cherry. So i can bag them and stack on pallets in my shed to keep dry inventory ready. That moving handle is smart and easy. I think the electric version would be great for doing resplits,kindling, and bbq chunks for bags inside during winter or rain days. Keeping production going without dealing with gas and fumes inside. Small firewood market is more profitable per cord than bulk heating wood anyways. An ibc full of seasoned chunks can make alot of $10 bags. Recently had a customer with a rocket stove want 10 bundles of 4" wide or less pieces. The Firewood market is always changing so the splitter manufacturers have to keep innovating efficiency. Nice review Tony

Garrett glad you enjoyed the video. You are so right the firewood market is always changing. Us woodhounds are the lucky ones because manufacturers have to step up their game with true innovations on their splitters like Split Fire did with its 1165V. Thanks for watching and commenting TCT

Since you have two grapplers, I am wondering if it might be a little easier (and safer) to use one to pick up single logs, raise them to say waist height, and make 16 ' rounds of them. Being off the ground would offer several advantages, I am thinking.
@TonysCoolTools12 сағат бұрын
Dave I have done that in the past. That is a good suggestion. Thanks for watching and commenting TCT
@comlbbeau14 сағат бұрын
Since your chains are so long in the back, I'd install two hooks at the halfway point in the chain and hook to the draw bar shackle with them both and use the chain ends to the corner D rings. You're then using only one chain, but there are two independent sections of chain running from the D rings to the shackle.

Ahh, now that sounds like a good idea. I'm Aways looking for other options. Thanks for watching and commenting TCT.

Doesn't look like the engine was working any too hard pulling the tractor onto the trailer, but how did you get it to throttle down at the end of the pull?
@TonysCoolToolsКүн бұрын
Dave there is a mechanical devise on the engine that as long as I have tension on the rope the throttle will rev stay at high RPM. As soon as I release the rope the engine throttles down. Thanks for watching and commenting. TCT

Hi Tony, Is there a particular grapple that you could recommend that would be good at picking up a single log to about waist height so that one could easily saw that log up into say 16" rounds? I am especially wondering if it would be easily possible to cut ALL of the 16" rounds, especially those in the area of the middle of the log. Thanks so much.

Dave unfortunately none of the grapples I've reviewed are designed for cutting firewood across the length of the log. The Frostbite is the narrowest one at about 30' Thanks for watching and commenting. TCT

So when you order the Axis machine and it comes in 2 pieces do you mean the conveyor is separate? Or do you mean the orange table with a splitting cylinder is separate from the blue frame and oil tank/engine? I'm saving up now for a new style Axis with a conveyor and have been wondering about shipping logistics and whatnot so any information I can get I'll take it. Thanks for putting this video together.
@TonysCoolTools3 күн бұрын
You may question Easatonmade when you order the Axis but in the past the conveyor comes separate from the splitter. Fortunately I had it delivered to a local business in town that had a fork lift to remove from the open deck semi. Definitely a two person job, I used my tractor and an IBC tote along with the help of my son-in-law to install the conveyor to splitter and it was pretty easy. @@TonysCoolTools I have found that the tonnage is nearly not as relevant as many ppl have been conditioned to believing. They are both really nice machines...I have even heard Andrew say the Axis is an Ultra flipped up. Wayne as far as vertical splitters The Split Fire 1165V is 1/3 to 1/4 the price of either the WR or Eastonmade but.... it's also 4 times lighter than the other splitters (450 lbs vs 2500 lbs). As an Owner of a new 17VS-C (with conveyor) , here's some pros and cons- Wolfe vs Easton that I've noticed on mine. Pros of the 17VS-C listed 1st: Has Honda Engine w/Electric start. All controls of engine and hydraulics are up front- none on back of unit- this is a HUGE Plus. Hydraulic conveyor lift. Log lift raises completely upwards. Cons of my Wolfe 17VS-C: Foot pedal is horrendous. I shortened mine-cut it 2 inches and rewelded it. I had to dig out a hole on ground to use foot pedal as pedal would hit ground 1st before splitting wood. Lot of loose movement on foot pedal still- due to design. Oil cooler fan location is 3 inches from hydro tank- hence blows all the hot air right back onto tank- the very tank/fluid you are trying to cool. Other Wolfe models have the oil cooler on top of unit to disperse heat better and not blow hot air directly onto tank, and wish my 17VS-C had the Oil cooler on top as well. In the end, you won't go wrong with either unit. Sold my Easton 22/28 to get this Wolfe Vertical splitter.
