Light Sport Variable Propeller

Ok, this could be a game changing product. I've been researching a controllable pitch propeller for my project, but until I saw this video, I'd thought my mind was made up and I'd be using the Airmaster system. I really like the fact, that this design keeps electrical components out of the hub and eliminates the slip ring and wear prone carbon brushes from the design. I'll be watching for how this project develops and will be interested to see what the price turns out to be. It would certainly also be great, if a variable pitch and/or constant speed prop system could eventually be offered as part of a Viking firewall forward package. Thanks for the info!

That is the intent. All gearboxes will have the option to add the propeller system. The price will be less than the Airmaster and the weight will be much less.

Exciting.... I see in my future a Zenith CH-750 SD with tuned Honda engine package producing around 250 hp with this prop. Super short takeoff (50 ft or less) and landing maybe 100 ft or so (no wind). At least 100 mph cruise on 5 gph or so at low altitudes. I’d write a check today for that.

This is great news about the variable props. I like your weight savings on your assembly . I am not sure but I think your 5 blade propeller must have a great cascading effect. I am still reading and learning. I always appreciate your videos because they because they elevate my learning curve.

Very nice, one really should use a variable pitch prop to get the best out of a turbo charged engine on an aircraft. I am an enthusiast, not an aviator myself but as I understand being able to control the power output of the engine rather than just the output torque of the engine makes the aircraft significantly more flyable. So on systems where the prop pitch is linked to the throttle and it's control is automated with prop speed feedback there's just one lever, and the system then puts the prop pitch at the angle which will together with the throttle give the desired power? I picked this up from the vlogs of Rotax owners who can afford to do it, as it does I believe get costly. That pushrod through the output shaft is neat, I presume it then couples up easily to the nut of the jacking screw which moves it? Or the screw if the nut is being rotated.

I'm a few years out from starting my build, but I was diggin' the 3 and 5 blade DUCs and wondered if there was a constant speed/variable pitch option...now I know there will be!

This is cool. I am pleased to know a system like this can be so light. Is this included in the package with the 195T?

It will be offered as an option, we have the standard 5 blade and 3 blade ground adjustable options, like any variable propeller, they can be expensive and we are trying to make this more affordable than things like the Airmaster at 12K.

What is the added benefit of a 5 blade to a 4 or 3

Here I thought I was all complete in virtually building my KR-2S. Now I will have to rethink the entire FWF. I was looking as constant speed props for my build, but kept on hitting brick walls for a unit that would fit well into that little two place I will be building. This changes everything. Have you guys put a motor in a KR-2S yet?

One thing that is often overlooked or simply not taken the time to do “properly” is to completely balance the entire system… I would except that to be dead nuts on to .1 milligrams for my money. Though, this indeed is a most welcome change to LSA rules and it’s about time we get the same privileges as our EU counterparts…including RG, higher top speed and another couple hundred pounds of gross take off weight.
