Oh and sorry if you don't like the music, it's what I like. Thanks for all of your kind comments!

Dude this is awesome but can you (and everyone else just stop with the bullshit music). Anyone with a brain wants to know how you did this and what you were doing at various stages. I froze this at 3:23 because the music was driving me nuts and I can see this really interesting spindle unit for the inside machining. Most people would use a boring bar. I'd like to know what it is you have done there. I've just ordered a lathe and am waiting for delivery. I'm considering what my first few projects are and a machining head like that is one thing I am considering. Most people find a way to mount a Dremel or similar but yours looks specific and it looks like it does a great job. You don't need to go into every last detail but give us something. Who designed this, was it you, someone you know or did you buy plans from somewhere? Was it based on something specific or is it an original design? What types of aluminum are you using? Do you have a parts list? This is an awesome piece of work. Please share with us how you actually built it and what decisions you made.

Extremely impressive! Here’s an idea I’d suggest to try. Get a larger ESC and hook both motors in parallel but reverse two of the leads one the one motor so it spins the opposite direction. This way the motors will be synchronized all the time and it should be torque free at all powered speeds. Independent motor drives might have one faster than the other as shown in your video giving you an ever changing torque moment/P factor. Your machining, design and build skills are top notch!
@wh1teafr1ca4 жыл бұрын
It will still not be torque free as the pitch has to be matched as well. This will help synchronize, but there has to be a mixer that has the rear prop at higher pitch or have base pitch be higher on the second row. This is necessary because the second prop is encountering accelerated flow.
@christiansprojects-cgmanuf14264 жыл бұрын
I think that my drivetrain is torquefree as I adjusted the blades pitch by measuring the current of each motor. Each motor has the same current and current equals torque so it should be torquefree.
@bertschoofs84944 жыл бұрын
@@christiansprojects-cgmanuf1426 You can easyly? test wether it is torquefree by fixing your plane on a swiveling platform and measure the torque acting on the platform at running motors. Marvelous desing and manufacturing too. Deep respect!

fantastic work! im blown away!! with the torque from zero rpm of electric motors i though that they would handle a large enough speed range that variable pitch a want and not a need
@christiansprojects-cgmanuf14264 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Well, that's true. For an RC-airplane like this, variable pitch is not really needed. I just wanted the model to be as close as possible to the original and I like to build things that don't already exist. In this case, the propeller would be to big and the current to high while the plane is on ground. With fixed pitch, the Propeller would have to be much smaller but the plane would be just as fast. So I made it mainly for fun ;)
@captarmour4 жыл бұрын
@@christiansprojects-cgmanuf1426 thanks. very interesting. even though this high current is for a short time, would it still be unacceptable? i'm thinking for an experimental with a low powered IC engine if adding an electric motor just for the TOR would be as effective as a variable pitch(constant speed) prop... additional advantage would be redundancy in event of engine failure
@christiansprojects-cgmanuf14264 жыл бұрын
@@captarmour Due to the large four blade propeller, the current in high pitch setting climbs close to 200 Amps on the ground. This might work for a few seconds but I just don't feel comfortable. I have two pitch settings. Takeoff/Landing and Flight. I set the pitch so that the current is around 120A on both settings. After Takeoff, the current quickly drops to 70-80A. I then switch to high pitch and the current goes up to 120A again. The plane only has 6 flights now but until now, it worked great like this. Your hybrid-plane idea sounds very interesting. This could work well!

@@christiansprojects-cgmanuf1426 Back in 1983 when I started flying turbo props, Embraer 'Bandit', I wondered why didn't all engines use Starter Generators, makes so much sense. The next step up is the 'Starter/Generator/Motor' which I see Mercedes Benz has in one of their new engines. I think we will see many more in the near future as using Electric to enhance performance also positively impacts economy.
