For the light strips under the couch, do you find that they stick pretty well to the fabric of the couch? I'd like to do something similar but I don't want them falling off in a few weeks.
@StBrush4 жыл бұрын
Most light strips come with 3M double-sided tape on the backside of the LEDs. They recommend you to clean the area very well, but if that doesn't work there's alternative tapes to help stick to your couch.
@SmartHomeSolver4 жыл бұрын
It does okay. I've had to add that double sided gorilla tape to the corner areas after it being up for a while and it's still holding it fine. Some people have told me they use staples to hold the light strips under the couch and I would think that would work very well.

Great job. I think LEDs facing outward on the mirror would look nicer, even with the diffused housing. Great vid! I recently put a vertical strip in a corner, but mounted onto a 20mm wide flat aluminium bar I had lying around, and faced it into the corner so its floating, about 20mm away from the wall. The light spills onto the corner and is diffused, just like in the your 2nd example with acoustic panels. I much prefer it this way compared to facing into the room where you can see the face of the chanel, the light spill is much nicer when bounced of walls in my opinion. Hi Reed! Two things: 1) I'm just starting out my smarthome setup (currently a student, so it's just a few Google Minis, some plugs, and a couple of bulbs), so I'm not quite clear - do your lightstrips still have an AC power cable that plugs in somewhere? or how are smart lightstrips usually powered? 2) I noticed that a lot of the time you include the Amazon affiliate links in the videos, which I've used before! Unfortunately, I don't live in the US (Canada instead), so my Amazon URL and product selection are a bit different. Depending on your channel metrics, maybe you could consider adding a second link when you feature products! For example, I've seen some tech channels have a (US) link and a (CA) link, for those whose audience mainly consists of America and Canada. Hopefully that'd send some more financial support towards the channel too. Thanks!

Many people have no sense of aesthetics. They just tape bare Led strips to everything in a sloppy manner. Then the light looks like a mess. It's better to use these aluminium mounts with diffusing cover. It will look neat and it will give more continous, neon-like effect.

I'm sorry but I think the piano will definitely cause health hazards (seizures) because they are blinking different varieties of colors changing them fast. The brighter the more chances of causing that. If it's low enough and slowed blinking, meaning once you press on a note the light would stay there for a while long and slowly turn off so it wouldn't cause such a health hazard and not only that but perfer light near the piano so that your pupils arent being strained from the dark. Cause your vision would slowly adapt to the dark and when you play the piano your eyes aren't used to it cause you haven't seen light so that's a extreme health hazard. It's a good idea but I thought it was a dumb way. I say probably have a led strip light up inside the keys or between the cracks of the keys would of been more convenient or just have led under the piano to see what you are doing with the foot pedal (if your piano has some sort of foot pedal) it reminded me of those strobe house Christmas lights... Aka light show centers. Telling you too much blinking lights that are bright is no joke.

i'm wondering if you've figured out that you can plug the USB and into a portable battery I've recently purchased 10 portable batteries that can charge your smart phone three times without being recharged. Not that you want to plug them into batteries as a permanent solution but for traveling or camping or endless possibilities for using them plugged into batteries comes into mind , I honestly experience plugging them into batteries because I wanted LED light strips on my ceiling fan and that was impossible because of needing an outlet and we all know how that would end so with the battery I could just put a sinner portable battery it wasn't one of the 10 I purchased but a more smaller compact version I put one on one fan blade and another on the opposite side so the fan didnt wabble lol and boom put it on slow and put on some techno ;)

Fair play some great ideas, I like the idea of skirting (base boards) lighting. Might have to try that, Only thing is how to hide the wires for power at the end. Hmm

I agree that will be the next thing to figure out how to hide the wires for the base boards.

Might go through the door to the next room. Really liking the idea of this for my hallway as the switch is at the end of the hallway so get rather dark. A light strip would help

One word, tacky. Sorry, but none of these looked like something I would want to have in my home.

Ome thing though.... how did you hide all the wires to those acoustic panels and how many adapters do you need. A shit load of panels takes the same shit of adapters right

Does anyone have a link to buy solely power connectors? I want to cut my light strips but my strips only come with one power supply plug.

what led strip did you use for the couch? because the fact that it only turns on when the tv is on is AMAZING

Honestly, I don't like light strips to be visible directly. I like them more as indirect light.
