This is a great review/tutorial. The pace was good and the visuals were really helpful. I can totally relate to the comment about gummed up nails after trying to separate the bulbs from the plastic holders. I have mini lights all around my backyard fence that are driving me crazy! Will give this a try. Thanks for posting this.

I just went out and got this at Lowes. It fixed my lights in about 30 seconds!

Thank you for the great demo. I have been throwing strands of Christmas lights for years and was about to again with two strands this time. There were last year's purchases and I knew they wouldn't have burned out that soon. So glad I found your video and know where to but the LightKepper Pro to fix the lights.

THANKS!! great review! I've been putting off getting one of these, but after pulling out 5 non-functional light strings and NOT wanting sit for hours to find the bad bulbs, I'm off to Home Depot right now!

Wow! Great video! Wished we had seen this before we went out and bought LED lights because the others weren't working! I hate the LED lights because they're SO bright. now trying to figure out if there's a way to dull them down.

Did you have the lights plugged in when you tested it using the bulb socket?

what about the old screw bulbs

I used this cool tool and got the string of lights working. Then when I put the new bulb back in the socket, it blew the bulb...repeatedly. What's up with that?

thanks for this video. I'm ready to pull my hair out on this pre-lit tree. I'm going to buy this tester tomorrow.
@CrazyChristmasCrew9 жыл бұрын
Good luck with that pre-lit tree. Even with the tester you might need to get a wig. I hate fixing those things.
@Chungustav6 жыл бұрын
Ya I had one from Costco that used fuse light (white bulb socket) and when that one failed it burnt out the entire string. I ended up removing about 6 string and replacing them with new strings instead

Check what the voltage and milliamp requirements are for the tester's battery. Look around your house... you probably already have a plug in adaptor from some long gone device that meets those specs. When the original battery is dead... use mini alligator clips and some black electrician's tape....
@coppulor65008 жыл бұрын
can you please explain this in more detail? It probably sounds obvious to you but not to someone who is clueless about power. Also, any way to convert a device that uses these major pain-in-the-ass batteries to using a AA instead? or AAA? how would I find out what voltage requirements are for the tester? I was going to get one of these and probably still will but I HATE HATE HATE devices that use this little pill batteries. Thank you!!
@blb51119518 жыл бұрын
look at the back of the battery,(flat side). it will tell you the voltage. it's almost always 3 volts. ie 2 aaa=3v 2aa= 3volts. one round flat battery the size of a nickel is 3 volts. there are always 2 wires one for negative and one for positive on the tester. the black is usually negative. you can look and see which wire connects to the flat side of the battery. the flat sside is positive. the rounded side of the battery is the negatve. next go look at allthose useless plugin charger...transformers... and read the back of the black plugin case. find one that says out put 3 volts. you'll see a milliamp amps out. the lower the amp out the better. take some scissors and cut the end off of the charger. strip back a 1/2 inch of the plastic. remove, twist the copper wire. next get your tester, take out its desd battery. llook at the back...does it say 3 volts. next tape one wire to the positive connector of the teaster and the other to the negative side of the tester. now you have the open tester with the wires taped to where the battery use to be. now plug your power adaptor into the wall and its supplying the power for the tester instead of batteries. the 3 volts of the adatptor is too low a voltage to shock you. just make sure those two wires are taped on well so you don't damage your tester.
