@ChristmasOnCrestline25 күн бұрын
Hey there, Red. If they are incandescent and have the white bulb with the red tip on it, that is the bulb that compels the lights to twinkle. Those have an average lifespan of 2,000 and it likely needs to be replaced. Another common issue is the lights are wet and have moisture in the line. Once it dries out, it should be back to normal.

My 1 year old net lights aren't working but the fuses are good and both wires passed the ohm test. How is it possible for the light set to show current through both wires yet none of the bulbs are lit?
@ChristmasOnCrestline28 күн бұрын
The wires can still carry power without the bulbs illuminating depending upon a few things. You didn't mention if these were LED or incandescent lights. I'm guessing they are incandescent. These nets are only designed to last 1-3 seasons, unless you bought commercial-grade net lights. All incandescent Christmas lights have a 2,000 hour lifespan. It is very likely that these have at least 2 bad bulbs. My guess is yours are non-white bulbs which is preventing you from easily seeing the burnt out bulbs. Here's a pro tip: Use the shunt fixer on the Light Keeper Pro first as this is an easy time-saving trick to fix your nets without removing a single bulb. Also use a flashlight and look over your bulbs until you have found the bad bulbs. Here is a video on how to use the shunt fixer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqe8c4mmadJsmrssi=c9Z5Y5wczTYKIs83

Hi Charlie I find that most LED net lights today the bulbs are sealed in the socket for waterproofing. How does this repair method apply to them?
@ChristmasOnCrestline2 жыл бұрын
Great question, Ronald. My commercial-grade lights a sealed and wrapped. However, the end bulbs of the net, like mine, should be unwrapped allowing easier access for the Keeper's shunt device to attach. But all mini lights can be removed to allow a replacement bulb to be introduced. As long as the bulb is seated correctly, you will be good.

Thanks so much for the suggestion! I know exactly what you mean-net lights can be tricky, especially with LEDs. I’m glad the LED Keeper Pro has been a go-to tool for you; it’s a lifesaver, even if net lights add an extra layer of challenge. My trick has become chip bag clips. I mark each section of the net that I've checked with a clip. This gives me a visual tip that I've checked that area already. @ChristmasOnCrestline Жыл бұрын
In this case, you likely either have corrosion in a bulb socket(s) or a break in the line. The break could be a physical break in the copper that is covered by the plastic and you aren't able to see it or, and the more likely cause, is that you have a bulb or bulbs that are not sitting perfectly in the socket. This could be because the copper prongs that appear on the bottom of each bulb may be too short or have broken off on one side or the other. Additionally, if these are incandescent lights, they may have overheated and charred the wire making them unfixable.

You mentioned that each net set has on each end a larger housing with 3 wires, question is, does the 2 blinker bulbs go on each end so that the entire net can flash? Having an issue where the left and right side flash but not the middle part.
@ChristmasOnCrestline2 жыл бұрын
If you are speaking of the red tipped bulbs that compel the rest of the lights to flash, those specific bulbs oftentimes are the cause of the power outage in the net. BTW- great handle, Jedi.

Hi Charlie, love your enthusiasm for these lights, fantastic! I live in the UK and my curtain lights are not working now. They flash once once and then stop. I have changed the 3 amp fuse, plug and even stripped the power wires at the ends to have a new connection but the same thing happens; it just flashes once and stops. I think the controller may be faulty. I have moved the connected wires inside the controller but this does not help the situation either. Do you think the controller electronics have given up the Christmas Ghost? :-( many thanks.
@ChristmasOnCrestline2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! It could be a simple fix, Colin. Does this set happen to have a red tipped bulb? If so, removing that bulb and replacing it with a normal bulb should solve the issue. Those red tipped bulbs are famous for screwing up a set of lights. If you don't have that, it is likely the controller box OR a simple setting on the box that needs to be adjusted. Does the box have different settings?
@colinthain67442 жыл бұрын
@@ChristmasOnCrestline Hi Charlie, many thanks for your very quick reply. It is an LED vertical light curtain with seperate long strands. The box does have several speed settings and is sealed in the lower bout where the majority of the pcb is, the top is accessible to where the seperate wires enter and are soldered onto the pcb. I know that the LED lights themselves are working as they do flash on once only so it must be the pcb itself has a fault then? Any ideas about what might be wrong with the pcb? Many thanks again.
@ChristmasOnCrestline2 жыл бұрын
Those are rather tricky. One of the largest issues in the LED space is that the lights with the control boards, especially pre-lit Christmas trees, are not designed to be repairable. So, when a problem pops up, there is no way to resolve the problem, and you're stuck with a permanent problem. One day, someone will realize this is a legit problem and offer a true solution.

How do you know a socket is not working. If the current is going in the socket and you have good bulb and it does not light does it mean the socket is not working. Is main reason the contact point are not connect to the light bulb? Thank for any help. I am struggling fixing a LED net lights.
@ChristmasOnCrestline Жыл бұрын
That's a great question, Asad. Don't loose hope, I have some tips for you. First, let's check and make sure there is no corrosion or broken pieces in the socket. Use a flashlight and check the socket after removing the bulb. Secondly, you can use either a voltage detector (amzn.to/41g4man) to check if there is power both entering and exiting the problem socket. Third, you have the option of cutting and removing that socket from the line to bypass the issue like I do here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eom6pp-iqpd5is0si=ERCPniOL2-PycnL2 or you can choose to add a POD in place of the socket like I do here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4GyeJ-joN5oldEsi=4YQOw7Pg7_g8RuHS Lastly, make sure the bulb you are using has both of its copper prongs in tact. Many times they are too short and simply are not making proper contact sitting in the socket!

LED nets are generally set up like a normal string, in sections. Use this tool: amzn.to/3Nur3lJ and it will guide you to the bad bulb, one section at a time. A normal string takes me 2 mins to fix. A net set will take me about 3-4 mins. The trick is to find the section that that net uses. It takes 1-2 mins to find the pattern and then you're good to go!

Hi Charlie. My net lights seem to have more wires than the ones in your video. Also the wires are thicker. My net lights also have a control box to set different light functions, such as steady on, wave etc...
@ChristmasOnCrestline2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, Debbie. The extra wires are a direct result from the control box. These style of lights, much like commercial-grade LED lights, take more time to trouble shoot. Most of the time, though not always, you have to check for power on all four points of each light as they oftentimes share power in a unique way. In other words, it is more difficult to tell which wire is actually carrying the power for each bulb. So, you have to scan a bit more.

I haveled net lights , 1 section the lights are barely lit the other section is bright, they did work now they don't seems to happen after rain and cold weather, net lights are new every year.
@ChristmasOnCrestline2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, Howard. Two questions come to mind. One, if these are incandescent bulbs, they are notorious for dimming and going dark in prolonged exposure to moisture. Secondly, if these are new, you likely have a bulb with a short prong on it. Short prongs, when angled just right, will allow a set to come on. Then, when the wind moves it, the prong no longer has a solid connection and it goes dark. Lastly, the Keeper should help you diagnose the issue. I'm surprised it didn't help.

How do you fix led net lights
@ChristmasOnCrestline2 жыл бұрын
Hello, Gregg. The fix for LED net lights depends if you have commercial or retail-grade lights. The quickest way is to start in the center of your non-working section of the net and to test on all four corners of the center bulb. This will show you the pattern your lights are wired in and speed up time it takes to find the bad bulb(s).

This sounds a lot like what happens when multiple sets are plugged in and the connection is loose. But when this happens with a single set of lights it is almost always a short prong issue.
