Going out on AT for an overnight in Massachusetts tomorrow. High of 52 low of 33. I bring cap mid weight top and bottom,lightweight runners fleece and ghost whisperer. Thick sleep socks,hat and gloves. I will hike in shorts and t-shirt and at camp dress accordingly. Not sure if R1 is going with me. I bring that if under 32 degrees.

What were you wearing to hike in that wasn't mentioned? Was that only an altitude hoodie and Satu pants? There Altitude hoodie doesn't seem warm enough by itself.

Yes I'll hike in and either a Tern or Altitude hoodie. If I need to put on a wind jacket or tusher rain jacket to stop by wind, I will. Unless it's the dead of winter, I won't hike in more layers than that...

Good breakdown Tyson. Finding that sweet spot of light enough and warm enough is tough. ow do you find the quilt and the bag fitting together for colder weather? Quilt is big enough to envelop the summit? Nate

I've used the quilt on the outside of our summit and on the inside...it's a little easier to layer if you put it in the summit, but with pad straps holding it in place it's likely warmer on the outside

New OV sleeping pad at 2:50!

The sleeping pad isn't being released. They covered this in a podcast. Too much patent saturation in the marketplace to compete on the pad design they wanted to pursue. Not sure if they will continue to push R&D, but don't wait for an OV release.

I'm looking to get into quilt and have two questions 1) what do you wear when sleeping in a quilt I assume you're not laying on your sleeping pad in your birthday suit 2) I would use it 3 seasons let's say coldest would be around 40ish degrees and warmest 75-85 degrees What temp raining would you recommend I use a 25in pad and I'm 6feet tall

Just wondering would the dragon wool system be over kill in this situation? I'm heading to the superstition mountains in Arizona in two days. Going to use them for my evening base layer they seem a little heavy do think they are over kill?

I don't think they would be overkill. Fall winter and spring. They are great options! I just had these other base layers more handy when packing... - Tayson
